What is the trade off for store pets? For example, does a 2010 rare = a 2015 store pet? Is that in here somewhere?

This is maybe slightly off topic but I really don't know where to ask. I'm relatively new (>6 months) and for some reason, all the time, random COPPA users send one-sided trades for my rare/very rare pets or huge quantities of my pets for no reason. Obviously, I'm unable to ask them why they thought I'd approve a trade like that but it's driving me CRAZY. In my trading rules, I've written "No free pets" and I do not, nor have I ever run or been part of a pound or other method of free pet distribution. What am I doing wrong?

Keep dates in mind, but also don't forget that any rare, regardless from which year, is rarer then an uncommon from older years.

I'm really surprised by this because I haven't been here for a while but I remember doing things like trading a recent rare for an old uncommon or vice versa.

The idea behind that is this: the uncommon is pretty close to becoming a rare, while the rare is a lot closer to being uncommon than very rare. So their rarity tags are different, but their worth isn't that far apart. Here is a segment from chapter 1 to help show what I mean:

This is just an example of a rarity scale, please don't take it as fact.

This is assuming that pets that got released early on are getting rarer then pets released recently. You can see that the 2010 rare is closer to becoming Very rare while the 2018 rare is just barely a rare to begin with. There's no way to tell is this is true, this is why we say 'dates matter - to an extend'.

On a scale similar to this, the uncommon would be juuust below the rare tag while the rare would be dead center. So yeah, the rare technically is rarer, but the difference would be negligible enough to not matter.
Like it says in the quote though, players don't know how accurate that would actually be.
