I want to learn it really bad! When school starts later this month I am going to start my classes for it. Any tips?

Honestly, the biggest tip is to learn your charts and just immerse yourself in it. Charts can be torturous, but once you learn them, you can find patterns and as my Latin teacher would always say, "Language learners look for patterns."

I'm taking latin 2 this year. For my class, latin is basically grammar, translations, and some culture. We don't really focus on speaking it ^^

i've been learning latin for only 8 months now p much and i'm still rather trashy at it but it definitely
is an interesting language and Cerberus never asked to suffer but he did the poor doggo

paradigms are definitely really really useful!!! they're especially important with translating so they're an absolute must to learn well. that being said, there're quite a few cases you need to learn with the paradigms so take it bit by bit because that's more stable than trying to rush ahead and learn everything all at once. the nominative and accusative case are your basic starters, and if you find yourself grasping those pretty well, then the dative is pretty handy to know too (but the others are equally as important)

latin is fundamentally based off so many patterns which will take quite a bit of practise to apply easily, but i suggest learning the grammatical details slowly and steadily, it's best to have a solid base after all c: good luck!!

And yes, I agree, Cerberus was a great boyo, he didn't deserve what he got.

Also the implications of the second book are really.... unfortunate? Quintus going to Alexandria with his now-free-man-and-not-a-slave friend and there are definite undertones to some of the things they do and like. Literally Quintus used to own you until a month ago, dude. Dump him! You can do better for your illicit gay relationships! This is Rome! The second gayest of all countries in the whole of history, after Ancient Greece! Literally every unmarried man will be happy to have you as a boyfriend! Dump him

We did books I, II, IV, and V.
I don't remember a huge lot but sometimes my brain just supplies me random bits of Latin grammar when I'm trying to remember the grammar of different languages. Which is great when the thing you're struggling with isn't even a linguistic feature in Latin (Danish has reflexive third person pronouns, which is... really rare. And not at all related to the Latin pluperfect, brain).

I also did Ancient Greek at GCSE.
Our textbook was... weird.
Manly because every single grammar demo sentence contained "ο δουλος" and "ο ποτταμος" and there was an awful lot of slaves jumping into rivers or being chased by lions into rivers or following the horses (that had just run away) into the river...
