why:

why wouldn't you love mudskippers? as a paushin who loves the sea, it's hard to be on dry land most of the time! i'll tell ya, mate, mudskippers are the coolest animals there could ever be. first time i ever met a mudskipper was in a pet shop, swimming and hopping with its brethren in a way i could only dream of doing. these little creatures are actually fish, and don't even have lungs! yet they crawl along the land, and rejoice in the mud, just as any of us land-dwellers do. the creatures are admirable for their valiant ways of traveling both land and sea, as well as their thirst for battle. fighting, swimming, mud-baking, all sounds like my kinda lifestyle!

Cassie loves sharks. Correction, she is obsessed with sharks. It all started when she was very young and small. Her family was going to the beach one day with her aunt and cousin, and Cassie was super hyped. The drive was long, but Cassie thought it was all worth it. Although, at the time, when they got there it wasn't very nice. It was windy, cold and cloudy. She and her cousin still wanted to swim and play. They swam in the shallows for a while, then Cassie's cousin suggested they go deeper. She agreed, and they both swam further. When they swam further, they spotted something flailing around underwater, and start floating up. It was a baby shark! She and her cousin gasped as they saw a baby shark caught in some weird piece of trash. Cassie started panicking because if there was a baby there probably was a mother. Cassie's cousin, (who by the way wanted to be a veterinarian) examined the shark. They both thought it was dead until it started trying to move again. They carried the shark into the shallows to help it out of the trash and were looking for the mother shark who hadn't shown up yet. Cassie went over to her parents and asked for scissors and her mom, who was always prepared, handed her them without question. She went back to the baby shark, which she by now thought was adorable and innocent, and cut the piece of trash so the baby shark was free. She and her cousin high fived and watched it swim away. From then on, she always liked sharks and wants to be a marine biologist who studies sharks.

Imagine a tiny world.
No, I'm not talking about that little puff thing in Horton hears a Who, because this one is real.
The ocean is full of tiny worlds, there are corals and algae, but even within one little drop of water one might find an empire.
"Plankton" is a broad term; the word means drifter. Encompassed are both animals and plants. Perhaps what I like about zooplankton is the diversity; the term includes everything from larvae to krill to jellyfish.
My personal favourite, however, is the Sea Butterfly.

Perhaps it is the symbolism.
Being a plankton, the sea butterfly drifts; moving with the current. Here is an ideal example of how one could live; wandering and wandering and going where life takes you.
In times of need, however, the sea butterfly must hunt, and so it propels itself against the tide to encase even smaller creatures in its sticky body. Perhaps this carries a parallel to our lives as well.

Freedom. Manta rays are perhaps the freest beings
in the entire ocean as far as Eden is concerned. It's
a treat to see them soar through the waters without
a care. Eden's grandfather would often take him on
his boat and show him the various animals that he
studied. Once or twice they were even able to scuba
dive and swim with a large, friendly ray. Since then,
Eden has been captivated by the majestic creatures.

Paisley naturally spends a lot of time on the beach as someone who works for the marine institute. She’s always liked the family of birds called sandpipers because of their long legs and beaks. The way they speed walk always makes her giggle, and she can get distracted by watching a group of them wander to and from the water’s edge. One of her jobs at the institute is a photographer, and she’s managed to befriend the flock that lives nearby and get some darling close-ups of the birds. The little animation called “Piper” that came out and featured a sandpiper and a hermit crab is her absolute favorite little short film ever.

Ahe's favorite animal since they were little has been a bunny! They loved to play with stuffed bunnies, and whenever there would be a bunny in the yard, they would star at it for ages, just wanting to pet it. Soon, as they grew more responsible, Ahe received a little black and white baby bunny for their birthday. Not only did Ahe spend all of their time with it, they also took such amazing care of it and entered it in a local fair. Although Ahe received only an honorable mention, they were very happy with their bunny. Ahe also even pretends to be a bunny every single halloween!

"oh come on! how could you not LOVE these guys? they're so fat. some can get up to 1200 pounds! good thing they're herbavores or a guy like me could be lunch! also, did you know that these are mammals, not fish? i think the coolest thing about the manatee is that it looks like it would be one way, but its the opposite. kind of like me! a lot of people think i'm shy but once i warm up i really NEVER stop talking!!! i wish i could have a manatee best friend to go swimming with, but i think i'd be a bit too high strung for one of them! also, they're vulnerable on the endangered species list, so i wouldn't want to take any out of the wild!"
