It just occurred to me that we have definitely had LNY pets and items of Chinese origin, but I don’t recall seeing any of other origins? Unless I missed reading something crucial, not every country that celebrates LNY has red envelopes or red lanterns, which I definitely remember seeing. And we’ve had Chinese text on some pets and items, although I know they can also be used in Japan and Korea? (not sure if they’d be used verbatim though)

I finally had the presence of mind to search “lunar new year in different countries” and apparently not every country that celebrates LNY has LNY even falling on the same day. All of our LNY celebrations on CS started on the day that the Chinese (and others, like the Vietnamese) use. Probably nothing that can be done about that though

So maybe this suggestion is also an opportunity for future artists to expand their pets and items to include some stuff from other countries that celebrate LNY (the most obvious example: fooooood) Especially since we are nearing the end of our first full cycle! We started in 2011 so what better way to cycle back than to expand in 2023? (But hopefully we won’t have to wait that long lol)

(Please whack me in the right direction if I forgot about some distinctly non-Chinese LNY pets and items)

I agree with this so much! Not only will it expand the holiday to be a little more inclusive, I would love some more diversity in the pets/items. Considering we have had CNY pets/items since 2011, I think a little bit of variety would be welcome.

Support, also creates many more options for pet/item designs if they're based off other cultures. I've found they're getting a little bit repetitive at the point.

Mixed support. I'd support this if any references to other cultures are handled well, especially if they ask any artists from those cultures.

I'm just worried that they might do it wrong, in which case I wouldn't support it.
