I used to be a kittypet, you know, getting spoiled by Twolegs and stuff. But I got bored- and I decided to run away, sightseeing on the way. The wild was fascinating, but dangerous too. I spent moons "on the run", basically, learning to hunt and fight for myself along the way. Then I found SeaClan! It was the best decision ever, joining the Clan. I'm so sorry to Dappledawn that I refused to eat those herbs, but I did mean it when I promised Rosefern I'd follow after her. She was so regal, even when she was dying. She told me that, somewhere, up in the sky, spirits of cats watched us, and we'd go join them. Look at me now!

Leafstar was right. I should have listened to him, and not let my judgment be clouded by Stormfang. He is a very good and capable leader, who was misguided by the storm that threatened to swallow the sea. I am so sorry that I ever took part in his plotting. I came to my senses too late, but at least StarClan was forgiving of me, letting me join their ranks. I will forever watch over cats of SeaClan, as they made my stay there wonderful.

Softdawn mewed firmly, "You all need both a mum and a dad, but as we can't do that due to being in different Clans, we'll take the next best plan and split you into two groups. It was sad when Gullkit and Gannetkit had to go with dad, and sadder when after being made apprentices, we were sort of led astray by Stormfang and all that, but now that we're back to normal, I'm hoping to become a great warrior one day!

II thought back to why mum made Gullkit and Gannetkit go with dad, and I realized that being four kits in a Clan being ruled by a tyrant while the actual leader was suffering with the rest of the sick cats would have been terrible. Sometimes I think mum has a gift for reading the future or something.

S N A K E K I T

Dustflower let out a thin wail as Honeytuft bowed his head, "I'm sorry, Dustflower, but this one is dead, he was stillborn." Shorefall, who had been waiting outside, came rushing in at the sound of his distressed mate. Looking over at his two kits, Shorefall asked, his gaze fixed on the unmoving heap of wet fur that was his stillborn son, "...Is he dead?" Honeytuft nodded, refusing to look at the ginger tom, "I'm afraid so." Shorefall let out a soft sigh and turned to comfort his mate, meowing gently, "He'll watch over us in StarClan, my dear. He'll be waiting for us to join one day." Dustflower leaned against her mate, her body trembling as sob after sob escaped from her body. Shorefall murmured, "Besides, his big sister Lily will be up there too, so you shouldn't worry about him being all alone." A mix between a sob and a sigh escaped Dustflower's jaws as the grieving queen whispered, "I... suppose you are right." Forcing herself to look at her two kits, the chocolate tabby queen murmured, "Snakekit. I'll name him Snakekit."
