Oekaki Rules and Information
by Tess @ Mon Oct 01, 2012 12:19 am [Reply]

All images made in the oekaki board must follow our general Art Rules - however, there are some extra rules specific to the Oekaki that you should be aware of;

Oekaki-specific Rules

What you should do:

  • Keep comments polite, helpful, and relevant to the artwork. Critique is allowed if requested by the artist - but bare insults are not welcome here.
  • Make an effort to post your drawing in the correct board. For example, if you color in an Editable drawing, post it into the 'Colored-in' board. If you are new to oekaki and your artwork isn't of a very high standard yet, post in the Beginners board until you've had more practice.
  • If using an editable, follow the artist's rules! This may include leaving a signature/watermark layer on the final image, or may prevent you from selling colored-in versions as adoptables.
What you shouldn't do:
  • Don't post excessively bloody/gory/violent images, nudity, or anything else which might be inappropriate for younger viewers.
  • Do not post blank canvases in the contests board. Contests may be posted there only if you provide a lineart or background for contestants to use in their entries. If you don't need people to edit something in particular, go to the Regular Art Competitions Board to create your topic. You can still make a rule that your contestants make their entries in the Oekaki boards if you prefer it that way.
  • Don't make Oekaki drawings with just words or puzzles written on them. The oekaki is for sharing artwork, not for displaying a message or playing a forum game.
  • Don't spam the oekaki with random 10 second scribbles or advertisements and trade requests.
  • Religious themes are allowed in most boards EXCEPT in the Editable or Adoptable boards. Please keep these images for the Beginners, Intermediate, or Sketches boards instead.
  • Don't post offensive images imposing your beliefs on others. You are free to express your beliefs in a peaceful way, but not by hating on or denouncing any other person or group of people.
  • Don't create Oekaki topics just to share art you've created elsewhere. Art drawn in another program should be posted in the appropriate board (for example: non-Oekaki adopts go in User-made Adoptables).

Selecting a different version of ChibiPaint
We have 2 versions of ChibiPaint to choose from. The newer version (ChibiPaint v2.0) allows you to use extra features like rotating your canvas.
You can choose "ChibiPaint v2.0" on your Oekaki settings page here:

If you don't know how to get started, go to the Beginner Oekaki. When you create a 'New Topic' it will load ChibiPaint for you.
You need Java to view it, and once you create and send a picture it will feature at the top of your new topic.

Try these guides before asking questions:

Frequently Asked Questions

How does art get 'featured' for the front page?
Featured art is hand-picked by a staff member to make it appear on the front page. Only recent artwork can appear in the featured box. The lucky artists are chosen if we think their drawing is particularly beautiful or creative and deserving of special attention. Often some of the site's 'best' artwork doesn't get featured because we believe it will attract enough attention on its own.

Will you feature my artwork please?
We don't take requests or recommendations. There are not many places available for featured art, so many people just miss out. Don't take it personally, if you haven't been featured then your drawing is just one among tens of thousands which didn't get featured that week. It doesn't mean we think you're unworthy, it just means you're not incredibly lucky.

How does art get into the "most popular" categories?
The "most popular" boards are sorted automatically based on the number of "likes" they have. They are set up to include the top images from a range of different boards so that even Beginners and Sketches have a chance of being displayed amongst the top Intermediate artwork.

Can COPPA users post in the oekaki?
Yes, but all of their posts require post approval from a moderator before they appear in the forum.

I'm a COPPA user. What happened to my post? When will it be approved?
If you don't see your recent post appearing in the oekaki boards then it is probably waiting for a staff member to approve it. This might take a few minutes, or a few hours, depending on how many staff are available right now. Please be patient, staff have to read and approve nearly 1000 posts per day, sometimes it just takes a while for yours to be seen.

Alaskan Garter Hound Organization [AGHO]

Basic wrote:Alaskan Garter Hound are a canid species that are distantly related to the modern day husky.
They are the result of a mutated gene that caused their size to go beyond all control.
It took humans years to find out how to stop the Canines from growing ever bigger and after some experimenting, the breeds size seems to have settled around the size of a horse.
Many of the giant dogs escaped after the fix and roamed the Alaskan planes until they recently got re-discovered.

First gullible humans thought they had found the yeti, until they stumbled on the packs of these giant Dogs.
After a long taming process and an even longer domestication, the dogs now are a very popular mode of transportation around the arctic regions and they certainly make the crossing of the landscape easier.

Diet: Omnivore, but mainly Carnivore
Fur Types: Mostly Thick, fluffy
Endangered? - unknown

Sprint speed: 80-100 km/h
Body type: Heavy
Breed Name: Alaskan Garter Hound
Average Lifespan: 35-40 years
Gender Ratio: 50/50

Average Size: 1.5m / 4 feet 111⁄16 inches at the shoulder
Average Weight: 500kg - 700kg

Anatomy wrote:An Alaskan Garter usually has a short neck, stumpy paws, a long body and thick, heavy paws.
The Breeds fur is thick and in a layered coat that protects it against the cold, a feature of this breed is the thick fluff on its cheeks.
The body is heavy and under the fur is a thick layer of fat which protects the Garter Hound from the icy cold.
Its paws are wide and have fur between the pads to protect them from the icy underground.
The garders longeated body and wide set stance allow it to distribute its weight easier over icy surfaces and it makes it very unlikely for the canine to break trough ice.

The breed is known to suffer from Hip problems at a high age and hence it is recomended to keep the saddle over its shoulder and upper spine.

About wrote:Kepps are shy creatures who have many mammalian attributes, including fur and live birth, but are cold blooded. They store heat in their fluffy tails so that when temperatures drop they still have the capability to move somewhere warmer. However, they are slow and vulnerable during this time, and the heat supply is not unlimited. After being exposed to harsh winter conditions which proved survival difficult, they found refuge with humans in their warm homes. Kepps range from the size of a house-cat to a lynx and are characterized by the rings in their eyes, which have no pupils but are still very sharp. They see best at dusk and dawn and love watching the sun rise and set.

Hello everyone! The Kepps are finally back and better than ever (I hope). I will be looking for artists soon, but only as long as everything goes well and interest is shown in adopting Kepp Dragons.

Rules wrote:1. You may own up to 15 Kepps.
may change in the future
2. Do NOT edit the design if you win. You may not add accessories.
3. Do not ask to be an artist.
4. Do NOT sell your Kepps. Ask me and I will give you permission to readopt them through this thread.

I will be looking for a few guest artists, but no permanent ones quite yet! Guest artists will be able to create 5 Kepps, but can not make a custom without my permission.

Artist Rules wrote:1. Ask me before making a custom.
2. Always use the gender symbols and palette. If the gender is to be chosen in the competition, leave both on until end of competition. If the Kepp does not identify with male or female, both may be left up.
3. No neon colors as the dominant color. They may be used as some smaller markings, but don't overdo it.
4. The rings in the eyes must be there. If the Kepp is blind, they will be white, but please ask me before doing this because it is rare.
5. There may be accessories, but no wings.
6. No major line edits. If you edit the tail, there must be a spiral somewhere. It is vital for the Kepp's survival.

Kojibura Adopts based on this drawing by The Lost soul
by The Lost soul @ Sat Mar 04, 2017 10:41 am [Reply]

Archives-Artist Competition
Kojiburra are an alien-like species. The species' history and development, along with any evolutionary genealogy is unknown. With a thick-set build, vent-like membranes, a semi-flexible center-point structure, and segmented horn crowning features, these creatures are almost unreal. All that is known about them, is that they are terribly intelligent creatures, having a developed brain that somewhat rivals humans, and a complex social system, mixed with some rather impressive technological adaptions. In any case, they seem almost to fall in line with humans. It's even rumored they live within multiple alternate realities with different forms, even human, and their souls traverse these planes freely.

Artist competition going on currently, here.
Adopt rules:
You may only own 5 Koji at any one point in time.
You may trade, gift, and adopt out Koji, but you may not sell them(May change).
You may take your Koji off-site, but you must link back to the original species.
Koji are not limited in story, or biology, but powers are limited to realities where everyone has access to them.
Koji powers must have pros and cons, and Power-playing/god-moding is not permitted.
Powers seen as making the subject invincible are not permitted.
All powers must be listed(with limitations, weaknesses, etc.) before roleplaying.
Your Koji, your responsibility.
Given they live in multiple realities, your Koji's reality and world is up to you.
No off-site trading. Off-site use is permitted only if you link back to the original adopt page of the Koji.

Code: Select all

Alrighty... we're not sure about species stuff, but let's try this out, cause we're bored. Might get someone better to do this, but eh. Let's make mistakes and learn from them.

Whate are Meraki? wrote:
Meraki (Pronounced, "Meh - rah - key" - plural and singular - like Sheep) are a species of flightless dragons with an avid love for hats and everything about hats, which they make out of gossamer.

Random Number Generator

Q: What do I need to roll to get x amount of pups?
(The number randomiser would be set to 1-100)
    1-25 for one pup
    25-50 for two pups
    50-75 for three pups
    75-100 for four pups

Q: What are the chances of certain edits passing?
(The number randomiser would be set to 1-100)
1-35 chance for a standard edit
    35-60 for a common edit
    60-80 for an uncommon edit
    80-95 for a rare edit
95-100 for a very rare edit

Q: How do the artists know what type of hat my pups will get?
A: Based on what type of hat the parents have, and how many pups you roll for, you may end up with a blend of the two+ hats or a similar hat with a different colour.

    For example;
    Parent 1 has a beanie
    Parent 2 has a snapback

    They roll for one pup,
Therefore that one pup will end up with a snapback beanie.

In another case, the same parents roll for three pups.
Pup one ends up with a snapback with parent 1's colour
Pup two ends up with a beanie with parent 2's colour
Pup three ends up with a blend

The chances of ending up with the parent 1's/parent 2's/blend is
(the number randomiser would be set with a 1-10)
    1-3 for mother
    3-6 for father
    6-10 for blend

Gemerret v.1 based on this drawing by .Cappelle.

the coding is currently a w.i.p
i mixed them up with these

about them!;
-Their claws are strong enough to open a can of peaches. They love canned peaches.
-Wide doe eyes/small snout/medium nose (ocelot)
-small/medium size (basically the size of a ferret)
-has an arched back like a ferret
-There are specific plants poisonous to them. One of the most toxic to them is the Aquilegia Atrata, which could easily kill a fully grown Gemerret. However, small plants such as daisies, dandelions, and poppies could all be considered healthy to them, although they would need to eat them in large amounts to retain a stable diet. They can also eat gems crushed into dust, although only the odd handful are smart enough to be able to do this. Additionally, small rocks and pieces of wood are decent snacks, though they can be lethal in large amounts.

The small sparkling things on there are very mysterious.. maybe the nursery can tell us more? No matter what their tail is made up of or if they can see more colors or not, they'll always be loyal to you, assuming you treat them right. Will you adopt one today?

Vyakta Equine Adopts based on this drawing by Guest

Vyatka Equine Adopts~

The first Vyatka, also known as Viatka or Vya/Via for short, horse originated in the areas around Vyatka and Obva river basins of the former USSR and is a breed of horse that has been in danger of extinction for several years. When the mares of a particular farm began to die off suddenly the breeder begged the gods to bring life back into his herds, taking pity on the breeder the gods blessed him with 5 mares marked with brindle of Gold, Silver, Topaz, Amethyst, and Spinel. Many of the Vyatka species now have these markings though certain colors are more rare then others and are often only on the neck and legs, though they sometimes appear on the face, but almost never covering the whole body. The Vyatka's also sometimes to have two sets of markings a white marking and another marking that can come in a verity of colors but are always faded and either a bit lighter, or darker then the base coat.

They are extremely useful and versatile ponies and have stamina, hardiness and endurance. They are used for riding and driving and are commonly used for pulling the traditional troikas. They have an excellent willing and honest temperament which makes them easy to handle.
In appearance, they have a small head, set onto a strong, thick neck. They are very powerful through the shoulders, deep through the girth and have muscular quarters. Invariably the Vyatka has a luxurious mane and tail, and in winter grows an incredibly thick coat. They are usually chestnut or bay roan, or dun colored with a dorsal stripe and sometimes regular zebra markings on the legs. Their height generally ranges from 13 to 15.3 hands high.

What are Dekkelian's?

Well, Dekkelians are large reptile-looking animals. Lots of them are nice but some can have a short fuse. They are a huge species but they can move very quickly when they want to. Their main colors are various of grayish colors, and most of their tongue colors remain around neon colors, which mean they can be very toxic. They also have long reptilian tails. They have a venomous bite and their tongue is forked like a snake's. They are omnivorous and their top jaw has two large canines with sharp teeth in the front of their jaws. In the back, there are many sharp flat-ish teeth. They usually are seven to eight feet tall and are eight to nine feet long. The tallest to every be recorded is nine feet tall and eleven feet long!

How Many Can You Have?

Everyone can own up to 21 Dekkelians. The non-staff members get a twenty-one Dekkelian limit, MYO's do not count. You can get an HM or RU if the judge likes your form enough. The staff members (Artist, Mod, Owner, etc.) get an additional 5 slots, so the staff can get 21 normal competition Dekkelians. So overall, staff members get 26 total Dekkelians. Guest Artist gets only 2 additional slots. Prices range on MYO's depend's on rarity and edits. To have a MYO approved, please contact KVShadow.

Home of the Hat Dragon

Whate are Meraki? wrote:
Meraki (Pronounced, "Meh - rah - key" - plural and singular - like Sheep) are a species of flightless dragons with an avid love for hats and everything about hats, which they make out of gossamer.
It is an extremely rare occurrence to see a Meraki without a hat.

    - Semi-aquatic
    - Egg-laying
    - Hat hoarders/crafters
    - Carnivorous
    - Venomous
    - Hatch "pups" or "cubs"
About wrote:Meraki bare both mammalian and reptilian qualities, sharing a striking resemblance to the modern domesticated dog and their ancestors, the wolf, as well as their dinosaur hereditary traits, such as their fangs.

Meraki are semi-aquatic, meaning they have the ability to live on land or in harsh swamp-like or water-filled areas of the world. Their venom cannot cause much harm to humans, just causing a mild headache and a dry mouth.

Meraki cannot scent from their nose, so they use their tongue (like a snake) to smell the air. It can be both terrifying and extremely cute when they scent you - it often ends up in plenty of Meraki kisses...

They are warm-blooded, despite being venomous and having eyelids that close vertically first and then horizontally (two layers - similar to crocodiles), as well as being mammals that lay eggs.

They also share the ability to dislocate their jaws in order to feast on prey and regurgitate their meal once their young have been weaned off of their milk. Although they are known carnivores, it is not uncommon to see them eat roots, tree bark and berries when times are tough.

Different regions become the reasons for their diversity in other traits, such as having plumage, horns, longer/shorter tails or fur, unnaturally coloured fur and even strange pupil shape and sclera colour.

Meraki can range in size, having adapted alongside canines. From the size of Tibetan Mastiffs, all the way to the size of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi (although it is very uncommon to see very many of the smaller variety).

Most Meraki are only able to lay around four eggs and are known to not always stay with the same mate or even breed with the opposite gender.
Egg shells can vary in colour, depending on the parents. Some Meraki have been spotted practicing weaving new hats in an attempt to attract possible mates. Other mateship ritual activities include weaving beads into their fur and even coating their fur in squashed berries, or even wearing found shiny objects.

Although mateship rituals have been duly noted among the wild Meraki, plenty of them are quite content living as domestic house-pets or even guard dogs. Plenty of them have been found to even make hats for their humans, as they tend to imprint and don’t seem to quite understand why humans don’t always wear hats too…

History wrote:Long ago, a dinosaur mother wove the very first hat out of fine gossamer, in an attempt to keep her unhatched chick warm.
The change in climate and sudden drop in temperature would be sure to bring on new challenges and changes for those of this mamma dino’s species, adaptation and mutations would be a certainty and a definite key for long-term survival. Little did this mamma know that hers and a few other newly hatched babies would bring on a long line of Meraki dragons!

Since their first birthing, Meraki dragons have made it a necessary trait to wear their hats from early life to death, often leaving the remainders of their hats to be woven into brand new ones for future generations.

Prism Keepers are large weasel type creatures with horns made out of prisms that grow out of their skulls, thus leading to the name they were given. They seem to have a tendency to collect stars and tie them around their bodies, most commonly seen around their legs and tails. Prism Keepers have long, rat-like tails and fluffy ears. Their tails are prehensile, but aren't normally very strong and can only lift things up to 10 lbs in weight.

Prism Keepers are Omnivores, but can live on vegan or meat-only diets. They are very highly intelligent and have been observed to express emotions very similar to that of a human. PKs are able to understand human speech, but are unable to mimic it. However, they do seem to have an advanced way of communication and appear to be able to convey complex thoughts amongst each other.

Prism Keepers often seek companionship, be it mates or friends, they don't discriminate. There have been observed cases of same-sex couples bearing offspring. They also seem to be expressive of gender and other more "human" concepts.

    - Do not ask to be staff, if staff are needed, I will make a post about it.

    - No minimodding, staff will take care of any questions or problems.

    - Marking the thread is allowed, but do not make posts that do not apply to the species.

    - Do not spam. If you have an unanswered question, you may quote it every 5 pages.

    - You may own 25 Prism Keepers. Staff may own up to 28.

    - Do not whine or beg. If you don't win, just try for another one.

    - Do not ask for customs, they are reserved for staff and whomever else I choose to give them to.

    - You may trade your Prism Keepers, but only for other PKs. This rule is subject to change in the future.

    - When trading or gifting PKs, please inform both me and the Archivist.

    - Do not steal Prism Keepers that do not belong to you. This will have serious consequences.

    - Prism Keepers that are related may not be mated together.

    - Adult PKs and Child PKs may not be mated together under any circumstances.

Cyx Adopts based on this drawing by Limuma
by toy20243 @ Thu Mar 23, 2017 12:45 pm [Reply]

What are Cyxes?
Cyxes are small fox-like robots developed as
a perfect toys for children! They can be
programmed to learn, play even fly!
They don't require oxygen and food -
They live off of batteries!
They act like real creatures and some
are even released to wilderness.
They don't have genders but can
be assigned one. Overall, having
a Cyx means nothing less than
many many hours of fun!

Do you want to adopt a Cyx?
Well, programming a Cyx can be very difficult. But if you fill out a form below, Im sure that we can make you your new friend, though it will cost you, and price can depend on what kind of Cyx you want made. If you dont want to buy a Cyx, dont worry! We have free adopts too! They will be up for adoption whenever we finish them, or if your lucky (and bump/mark this) then a wild Cyx might just appear to you!

Make your own Cyx!
What kind of personality do you wish for your Cyx to have?:
What additional programs would you like your Cyx to have? (flying, swimming, ect):
Would you like an assigned gender?:
Any visual traits you would like on your Cyx? (color/wings):

Cyx artists?
Want to become a Cyx programmer (artist)? Just message me and lets work something out!

Thats right! Your Cyx can breed! As long as both Cyx owners agree, then your Cyx can have a baby, no matter what assigned gender they have! All you have to do is message me with proof of the breeding agreement, and TWO Cyxes will be born! Thats right BOTH owners will get a baby Cyx! But be careful because your Cyx could end up having 3 babys! That means each owner gets one, but the third would have to go up for adoption!

Cyx Raritys?
Only Cyx's who have grown from a baby Cyx will have raritys! If it has not grown from a baby Cyx, then it will NOT have a rarity! Because no baby cyxes have been programmed, the cyx raritys will be determined by our artists before we post the first baby cyxes.

Our Artists!:

Also many thanks to Limuma for the amazing lines!
