Olivia's cake:

Olivia described their cake:

Update: This contest really sparked my interest in cake decorating. I've actually started taking decorating classes. I love it! ^-^ ------ Wow, this took much longer than I had expected. I pictured a specific idea for this cake in my head, and even sketched it out. It came out almost exactly how I pictured it! This is the first time I've ever baked a "serious" cake (in fact, I've never even put icing on one before xD), and I'm pleasantly surprised with myself. C: I used my own, homemade, sponge cake, butter cream, and Marshmallow Fondant. I used a mixture of gel dyes to color the fondant and butter cream. I made purple fondant letters to spell out "Happy Birthday_ 3_ CS". I created these by printing out huge font from MS Word, cutting each letter/number out, then tracing them with a knife in my rolled out fondant. I stuck them to my cake using little dabs of water. I made some dark green shell butter cream borders around each of the bases of my tiers. Then, I added little purple flowers, like the ones, here, on CS! I also used a leaf tip to make little leaves around the base/bottom of my cake. Making the fondant figures was the hardest, yet funnest part! All of the kneading, dying, and molding took hours upon hours. I tried to get the colors as close as I could, but I couldn't always get them exact. The only non-edible items I used, were the supports for the three tiers. I didn't want them to crush each other so I put pillars and plastic/cardboard in between each. In all I was hoping to grasp the theme and colors of CS. I wanted to add some very recognizable characters and items (Chicken, Avian, Smoothie, Banana, Grapes, Apple, Squiddy, Pink September 2008 Cake Dog) to make my cake unique and more fun. There is a ton of time and care put into this thing, and I hope it shows. Happy Birthday CS! ^.^ (Sorry if I added too many photos, it was just to hard to decide xD)
