Global Moderator Application
This job is available for members who are aged 18 or older.
Global Moderators often have to deal with posts or images which are
highly inappropriate or R-rated, so applicants must be mature adults aged 18 or older who are comfortable seeing mature content.
Global Moderators have a very important role: to keep the forum clean, safe and friendly. Global Moderators also deal with reports on private messages and trades, to help keep members safe across the whole site. Global Moderators must quickly respond to reports about inappropriate content, and promptly clean up or remove posts which break the rules. Global Moderators also need to mediate disagreements between members, and keep the boards tidy by moving misplaced topics to the correct boards.
As a Global Moderator these would be some of your duties:
- Deleting, editing, or locking off-topic posts, bullying, inappropriate content, and spam.
- Moving topics which have been placed in the wrong board.
- Communicating with players about their questions and issues using the site. Responding appropriately and promptly to reports from members.
- Dealing with art theft issues.
- Checking and approving new members' posts and COPPA members' posts before they can appear in the forum (and disapproving posts which don't meet CS rules)
- Helping to sort out arguments between members, and staying fair and unbiased even if you know some of the members involved.
- Warning members who have broken site rules.
You need to have confidence in your decision making and in your understanding of the rules so that you won't hesitate to do difficult or uncomfortable tasks - like warning users or closing down problematic topics. Sometimes players get angry about the actions that moderators take, and may argue with you or other staff. You need to be able to deal calmly with conflict, without getting offended or losing your temper.
As a moderator you would gain access to some private information about players - like their warning history. You need to have respect for other players' rights to confidentiality, and not share any of this information with other people. You shouldn't use this information for anything which doesn't directly relate to your duties as a global moderator for CS. You may use your moderating abilities only where required, and never use them to take advantage of situations for yourself or other players.
