Koi, the fishy dragon.
Legend has it that there's a waterfall taller than the sky. At the top is a temple of dragons, where the beasts live. Any fish who is courageous and strong enough to reach the top will be rewarded; they will be turned into a dragon.
This is what happened to Koi.

Well, the concept comes partly from Chinese mythology, and also from a book called Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.
