Aegishjalmur creature

The symbol on this hippogriff-thingy is called an "Aegishjalmur". It is an ancient runic viking symbol.

The literal translation is "Terror helm", although the talisman itself is meant "to instill fear in one's enemies and to conquer fear in one's own mind".
