Hmm, this has potential, you just need to work on a few things. :3
For the actual wolf, you should probably try smoothing your lines. Put it on 40 or so and it should help. It may be a bit late for that, so you could try blurring the edges instead. Also, I'm not a genius at anatomy, and you got the anatomy pretty good, but the stomach seems too caved in. Same with the back. :p I know the ref looks like that, but even the ref looks weird to me. One reason why multiple refs can never go wrong.
As for the background, also good, but it could be better. Try not blurring the rocks so much and adding more detail to them. Little pebbles, a few pieces of grass even? The sky could be a better color, but I know how hard that is. And try blurring the sky upwards so that is goes from light to dark. I can see you sorta did that, but a more even and fluent blur would look better.
The actual moon is very copper looking... I can't say that's a bad thing, since a moon would never be that red and that big, so I'm guessing you used a bit of artistic freedom there. But IMHO, it would look better if it was paler. Instead of redoing the entire thing, you could just get a large paintbrush. Go to a *new layer* on *top* of the moon, and color all over the moon with a creamy moon color. Then just lower the opacity for that layer, and the moon should look like a different color.
Overall, nice job. You followed the ref, but perhaps a bit too much? Just work on your colors and blurring, all that stuffs.
Those who kill sheep should mind where they sleep,
When there's nothing to hear the shotgun is near,
The curse of the farmer is likely to harm yer,
A scent in the morning is sent for a warning,
At a cloud on the sun a wise dog will run,
It's the sharp and alert who avoid being hurt and a dog that's gone feral is living in peral.
Those with blood on their paws and wool in their jaws should heed these old saws.
