Username: SilverFeather

Name:

Solitaire
The villagers called him "Den ensomme skygge" which is norwegian and means the lonely shadow. A doctor that lived in the city decided he needed a proper name and therefore he translated the word 'lonely' to french, and his name ended up as Solitaire.

Age (at most 50):

10

Personality:

He seems to be cold, lonely and almost never seen together with any other creature of his own kind, and even though his official name is Solitaire, many of the villagers still call him the same name they had for him many years earlier. A lonesome shadow that hasn't been seen properly by humans, he stalks in the misty mornings at the top of the mountains. No one knows what he is seeking, but no one has ever dared to go near him. Many think of him as some sort of god, that must not be disturbed. When children disappear from the town, the villagers often thinks that he's the one that took them, even though he didn't do it.

He is somewhat kind, even though his body has been blown at by heavy winds, and food is rare to come by at the mountains. His home is the mountains, he lives of them. His heart isn't made of ice though, and he isn't made to kill and fight, but rather to love and care. That's what he is seeking for in the mountains, something to care for. Something to love, as he didn't get loved as a child himself. His quest at the moment is to find someone alike himself, someone in his own species. He wants to know who his parents was, where they used to live and what happened to them.

Gender:

Male

Theme Song:

Walking In The Air - The Snowman/Nightwish/Celtic Woman

Country:

Norway

Story:

A secretive creature (Villager's point of view)

"It's him, mama! I know it is!" the small child was yelling, her mother pulling him back inside. "It's nothing out there, stop yelling about it!" his mother said impatiently, though more people had started to gather around, eager to hear what the small boy was saying. "What did you say, boy?" one of the older men said, limping forwards with his walking stick, his left eye patched with some cloth. The boy shivered, and the mother let go of his arm and stepped backwards. Soon he was the midpoint of the group, all of their eyes watching him closely. "I-I saw him... Den ensomme skygge." the crowd gasped. "How is that possible? The myths said he disappeared ages ago!" a lady murmured, the rest of the crowds nodding in agreement.

"Den ensomme skygge" or the Lonely shadow, was known for being a creature wandering at the mountains just above the place where they lived. Myths said he took the children of the village and ate them, though the myths also told of a mighty warrior that had killed the beast many seasons ago. The beast had been feared among even the bravest men, and the person who had killed it had disappeared only days later. A frenchmen had went there with his family, and had seen the shadow of the creature. When he heard the stories of the villagepeople, he had called it Solitaire. "It's not true, it's only something random the boy made up to get some more attention, that's all!" a man said, and the chorus of agreement sounded once again. With tears in his eyes the boy turned and ran up towards the mountains, the taunting laughter of the villagers haunting him all the way up to the top. It was no mist at this point of the day, though after hours sitting on a rock sobbing, the mist had started to appear.

Looking up from his clothes he noticed the fog and sniffled, looking around nervously. A large shadow had turned up behind him, It was somewhat like a lion, large, powerful and magnificent. He could only ysee the shape of the creature, though he knew at once it didn't mean any harm. Smiling he laid down on the ground, falling asleep in the middle of the mountain.

Days later, they found the young boy's body at the bottom of a creek. He was dead, no doubt, though he had a peaceful look upon his face, as if he hadn't died of anything terrifying. In fact, he was lying quite calmly on a flat rock. From that day on, they began believing Solitaire was the helper of the dead, dragging down the bodies from the mountains and putting them a little while outside the village. It proved itself right many times, though their deaths was as mysterious as ever. When the myths started, the bodies wasn't found at all. Therefore they started talking about the "Good Solitaire" and the "Bad Solitaire".

WIP, more stories will probably be added.
