Please know that I am NOT an anatomy expert! I'm still practising!
I hope that this helps you a little bit. It's all I know. C:
a } The ears need to be a tiny bit bigger, and there is more fur inside of them. Usually, you see a black line sort of thing in the middle of the ear fur. Like in this picture.
b } The muzzle is too long. And it needs to be just a tiny bit bigger vertically. The area from the forehead to the muuzzle also needs to be a little more sloped.
c } I've always been a fan of 'cartoon' eyes on animals, even though they aren't anatomically correct. I like the one you drew, though if you want a realistic eye, you must include a tear gland, and only have the white of the eye showing if the animal is scared or looking away. The pupil would also be smaller. And just a little tip: you should include eyebrows. You can create a wide range of expressions with them, and make the character easier to relate to. Wolves have little eyebrows, but if you are going for a more cartoony style, you can make them long and human-like.
d } Take a little look at some side-on wolf pictures. Notice you can see a little curved nostril in the nose? You may add this if you wish, though some artists leave it out, and it looks fine to me. ;D Now, about the muzzle: it should slope slightly towards the wolf near the mouth, rather than away from it. Also, just a little thing I always do, try to draw the parts of the jaw as seperate parts, rather than drawing one block and adding the line of the mouth. Because your wolf's chin is a little bit too tiny. C: You can also add the black lip on the mouth, though some artists leave this out.
e } The chest is a bit too straight, try slope it in slightly. It's also good to add tufts of fur here. Speaking of tufts, the one on the side of his face looks a lot like what I've seen some people draw; which isn't really quite like a real wolf's. If you want to draw a tuft there, make it a little longer, like this. You can actually barely see the tuft they have there, it's quite faint.
f } Wolves have a kind of 'mane' on their back. Have you ever heard of an animal raising its hackles when threatened or angry? This is to make it look bigger and more intimidating. The fur here is also considerably darker than the rest of the body, to make it look as big as possible when needed. So make sure to add lots of fur up there! ;D
I'm glad you had the time to read these; I really do hope that they help you out. And one last little tip- really try and get your realistic wolves looking perfect before you make them into cartoons, hen you'll be able to understand the anatomy and create your own, unique and interesting style! You're doing very well so far, so keep up the good work! C:
Good luck!
