Redline for Rottiegirl

Postby Equid Phantasm » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:55 pm

Hello. Here's w hat can be done with your little horse/pony. Hmm, I did it before you re-modified yours, so it does look different than your current version.

First before I start, the horse on the left is the same horse modified, I used copies of your layers.

1. I took your nose shape, cropped the almost exact square shown, and moved it with the marquee tool upward about 1/4 to 1/2 inch outward a little and dropped it there. I redefined the shape just a bit by smudging it back a little to define the nostril area. I added the defining shadow behind the nostril with a bit of the same colors and smudged it into the approximate shape. I filled in and smudge it all together til it blended smoothly. It could use some more lights and darks. I corrected the shape of the mouth here as well although I see now I needed a little more definition on the lip and maybe a little shadow ont he chin itself. I loved your eye, I kept it exactly the same but moved it a tiny bit I think.

2. I defined the chin line with a little more smudge/pushing with smudge and using a darker color to represent where the shadow would fall from the head upon the neck.

3. Added another ear of course.
4. Your mane was too short and straight. When drawing mane you have to keep in mind that the neck is not flat, it's round and then another round and then another round... so it waves no matter how much we would want it to be straight. Anyhow, added some definition lines with size 2 brush in darker and lighter s hades and then used dodge for lightening and burn for darkening in a few areas. Ran the dropper tool over the entire mane very quickly to smooth the edges.

5. REally little, just defined a bit by making it look like the throat of a horse, there's the throat, then the muscle.

6. I moved the hairline back some and added shadow behind the ear to give the look of a little depth here, it makes the ear stand out a little better. Besides, that part of the mane was scruffy.

This is by no means a full scale detail, I really only had a little time to do it between marwari horses art and 2 competitions I have to do after hers but before the 1st.

Thank you for allowing me to help you with your art.
