I decided as i was typing this that the dog is radioactive and the only cure for his loved ones who are dying from radiation poisoning is that rose and he had to race against the clock to find the rose before his family died he also had to go through a bunch of challenges, like getting past the guardians of the rose, and crossing the river Lethe without touching the water, with no boat. That is only part of his terrible challenges to find the rose and save his loved ones. note: I just made all of this off the top of my head now
