Layer are something VERY useful. For instance. If you look to the bottom right of the drawing screen, youll see something that says 'layer 1' that layer is the background layer, meaning you don't draw on it. You add one more layer which is often a layer people use for sketching. Then they'll create another layer and draw off the sketching layer, and once they've finished, they'll toggle off the sketch layer.
It's quite confusing, and it'll take a little of messing with to understand. But if you picture it as you drawing on very thing papers, and moving them on top of each other, then it may be easier
