Alright, here's my entry. I themed it Steampunk because I had an idea for it. Anyways, I didn't decide on him a name, but I did think up a story. My apologies, I designed it with a male in mind but feel free to change it. So, to my story:
Pretty much he was the son of a female wolf and a male golden retriever, giving him the color of his coat. Brown from the mother wolf, and the golden undertones from his father. The Golden retriever was a guard dog at a human factory, isolated in the middle of a large forest. After the pup was born, the wolf female was chased off by the humans, leaving the pup with his father. One of the human men took a liking to the pup, and convinced his superiors to let him live at the factory as well. The Golden took good care of his son, who quickly grew to look like his mother: the wolf. Rambunctious and excitable, the young adult was always getting into something, looking for new things to explore. But one day, the pup got caught in one of the human machines, losing his entire right foreleg and left forepaw. After a long struggle to keep him alive and stop the bleeding, finally he rested, his life stable. While the young male slept, one of the factory's mechanics built him his prosthetic limbs. From then on, the mechanic and the wolf were very close, the mechanic giving him the pair of goggles so the wolf could follow him when he was working. The gear tattoos on his hindquarters (they're symmetrical; on both sides) match the tattoos the human mechanic had on his upper arms.
