Wolfie padded through the forest, listening to the song of the birds and the swish of the leaves blowing in the breeze. His paws stepped lightly, and he felt carefree and happy. He smiled and closed his eyes, enjoying a gust of cool air. He could smell the sharp scent of pine as he walked, a smell that was familiar to him.
Then Wolfie heard a hissing noise. He spun around to see a snake on a tree branch behind him. He noticed the colored stripes with a gulp. This snake was poisonous. Wolfie froze. The snake slithered down the tree trunk and approached him. It slithered around his ankles. He tried to be still, but he was shaking with fear.
He gave in. At top speed, he took off. He managed to shake the snake off of his paw, but it followed, gaining on him. He took in a sharp breath as he realized how close it was. He was tiring quickly, and he didn't know what to do.
