A lot of starting artists think drawing snakes is really simple, they don't have legs, so they must be, right?

Snakes have very interesting anatomy, you can't just draw a squiggly thing with a tongue, that's like a curvy stick, not an animal. Snakes have ribs, and spines, and such, just like any other animal. They can not physically be 'wiggly', as they can only curve their bodies so much before breaking. So, study first. This is not just a rule for snakes, with any new animal, you should always research the anatomy, get a good idea of it. Then you can draw it.
