Hanalea shook her head from side to side in a frenzy, looking for any signs of danger. There was nothing, she sighed and after a moment, she was somewhat reassured. She blinked her eyes sleepily, Are these things I see real? Or am I going crazy?
As her heart rate began to return to it's normal place she tried to remeber what she was doing in this part of the forest. With a jolt she realized she had no idea where she was, her paw pads were sore, as if she had run a great distance. Then she realized it was probable, her last hallucionation, which she unwillingly brought to mind, was terrifying. No matter how hard she ran she couldn't get away.
Hanalea shuddered violently, chasing off the memory. She sniffed the air, hoping the wind would giver her some clue to where she was, but she only caught the scent of a nearby stream. She walked towards it slowly, hoping for a refreshing drink, but after a few minutes of walking she still hadn't found it.
As soon as the smell hit her nose it was gone, she growled softly, irritated at the unfamiliar place, "This is no time for games," She mumbled, as if the forest could understand her. She sat down and licked her sore paw, wondering what she was to do next.
As she prepared to head East, a gleam caught her eye, she wipped her head towards it expecting to see a drop of water reflecting the sunlight or a small beetle.
She stared warily at the object, a very small round thing, attached to a string as far as she could tell. Hanalea padded towards it and grabbed the black string gingerly between her teeth, pulling it out of the forest debree, she set it down at her paws and studied it carefully.
A necklace, the charm was a feather, with a bead where the feather ties with the string, the gleam that caught her eye. The feather was from a bird she hadn't seen before, maybe some sort of owl? At closer inspection she discoverec the bead was the same exact shade as her eyes.
After a moment she nudged her nose under the string and tilted her head up, the necklace slid over her head and onto her neck smoothly. It felt like it had been there her whole life, she smiled and stood up, preparing to head east again. She had not taken on step before it hit her, the terrible darkness.
Hanalea collapsed as her mind dissapeared into another realm, somewhere deep into her mind. She twitched as the dark choked her, surrounded her with it's frightening whispers. This was no absense of light, these shadows were living things, laughing as the curled around her, breathing as they constricted her thoughts into mere panic.
She wished desperately for light, anything that would drive the darkness away. And then it was there, something so bright that it took a few fearful moments for her eyes to adjust..
...
Her necklace helps her 'control' her hallucinations, they allow her to act willingly, so she can explore her mind better and understand the things she sees. Sometimes what she learns is very important. The necklace cannot help her control when she has the hallucinations or what her body does as here mind is elsewhere.
