About the species
The name means 'flying (= Ovi) thief (= feles)'. This is because its a habit of the species to steal and collect odd supplies like juwels, weapons and mirrors. Ovifeles is an omnivore and they eat birds, small lizards, fish, berries and insects. The spikes on their tongue are for hunting fish, lizards and birds. When the spikes are pulled in thy can catch insects with it.
The tongue can reach about tree feet far! The slime is venomous like the slime of a Komodo Dragon. They are unable to fly but they can make perfect gliding 'flights' with the wing-like skins on their back and tail.The distance of the gliding 'flight' depends on the weather and the wind.The shield on the back of their head is to protect them from being bitten in the neck. These 'shields' can be armed with spikes. The males have vry bright colored shields to attract females.
Most Ovifeles live in mountains, swamps, woods and rainforests. They aren't designed to survive in cold climates or to swim. But most of them can swim not to-long distances.
