theres an old chest halfway buried into the landscape, brightly lit by the moon.
thats not moonlight though, theres something beside it emitting all this light!

this event is not active yet, but posts are welcomed. we hope you enjoy the celebrations leading up to this special occasion!

Curiosity gets the better of you and you carefully cross the top of the small knoll to examine the glow and this strange, half-buried chest. Who would bother to bury a chest all the way out here, and what is glowing? You bend down to examine it, tilting your head this way and that. It looks like the glow is escaping from the front of the lid of the chest which is just barely open. You are considering what to do with it when a voice from behind you startles you and makes you jump.

"So, are you going to open that, or not?"

You spin around, looking for the owner of the voice when a low thump of air moving above reaches your ears and you quickly look up. Your eyes widen at the sight of a MotE... flying?

The bird-MotE above you tilts his head before he simply laughs and lands, settling to his hooves on the ground before you. He tosses his head and prances to your side as he tucks his wings in against his body, "Well come on, aren't you curious to see?"

"Wait, wait," you say, turning to watch him, "Who are you and.. well, what kind of MotE are you? Sorry, I don't mean to be offensive, I just.. I haven't seen a MotE with wings before."

He just gives you a smile, at least you're pretty sure that is a smile though the beak makes it hard to tell, "My name is Piccolo, a messenger of the Gods. I was born during the Amorus fete under the Brumal alignment." He watches you, his eyes dark in the dim light of the night and then laughs again at the baffled expression on your face.

"Perhaps you ought to check out what's in the chest. Maybe that will help to explain everything," he drops his head before you have a chance to object, hooks the lid with the tip of his beak and throws the lid back.

You brace yourself for an explosion or some sort of negative magical effect, you had recently heard about the whole tailless event caused by a pair of crazy MotEs, but nothing comes and slowly you relax. Your gaze returns to Piccolo who is watching expectantly, then down to the chest. Inside lays a number of gleaming crystalline baubles, reflecting different colours and patterns, and the glow fills the night around you.

"Try picking one up. Call to them, tell them to come, and they will. You'll meet all sorts with fetes and alignments, I'm certain!" He bows his head to you, spreads his wings and with two bounding leaps, takes off before you have a chance to ask him what he was talking about.

Call to them? Call to whom? You look down to the crystal baubles once more, reach down to one and examine it closely. Will they really answer your call, whoever they are? Time will tell. Taking a slow breath, you call to the crystal for them to come.

Welcome to the countdown celebration to the creation of 100 Myths of the Etherium!

To help celebrate this milestone, we are thrilled to be able to introduce the fetes and the alignments that can affect MotEs!
Fetes are the four annual events that affect the MotEs most commonly during specific months of the year. These are the Amorus Fete, the Sauros Fete, the Daemous Fete and the Fae Fete.
Alignments are influenced by the four seasons and changes with each celestial event: the Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox, and Winter Solstice. These are the Vernal alignment, Aestival alignment, Autumnal alignment and Brumal alignment.

Fetes and alignments can both impact a MotE by adding or removing features (lineart changes), exhibiting more common colours and patterns correlating to the specific fete and/or alignment, and more! A MotE can be affected by a fete or an alignment alone, or they can exhibit traits of both, as seen with Piccolo!
