Texas Cattle Horses come in many coats, some of which are specific to the breed. Different levels of rarity are used, and adopts with higher levels of rarity may only be ordered as imports, bred or rarely found as free adopts, mainly as milestones and during events.
common: chestnut (ee __), bay (E_ A_), black (E_ aa), tobiano (To_), overo (Oo), flaxen (ff), grey (G_), varnish roan (Lp_)
uncommon: seal (E_ At_), wild bay (E_ A+_), champagne (Ch_), silver (Z_), sooty (Sty_), cream (Cr_), pangare/mealy (pp), roan (Rn_), dun (D_), splash (Spl_), blanket appaloosa (Lplp), snowcap appaloosa (LpLp), leopard/semi leopard appaloosa (Lplp PATN1__), fewspot appaloosa (LpLp PATN1__), birdcatcher spots (__ + bc spots), grease spots (__ + grs)
rare: pearl (prlprl), sabino (Sb_), rabicano (Rb_), somatic (__ + somatic), gulastra plume (__ + g plume), mismarking (somatic mutation + any appaloosa coat)
special/very rare - for occasions, imports, & breedings only: chimerism (geno 1 x geno 2), manchado (mama), peacock appaloosa (Lplp PATN1__), reverse dapples (__ + reverse dapples), calico tobiano (chance of occurring on a cream diluted coat + tobiano + somatic mutation)
Notes: pangare/mealy is not testable in real life yet. In TCH, it is a recessive gene that will only show as "pp" - Pp carriers may pass down the gene, but will not show it.
PATN2 is not a real gene, but it may be used at artist's discretion in TCH and shown as a "+ PATN2" annotation at the end of the genotype. It has a 50% chance of passing down in breedings.
KIT genes do not apply to TCH.
nd1/nd2 count as dun, and have the same rarity level, however it must stay rarer than regular dun.
Dominant white does not exist in TCH - it is replaced by Charolais white, see breed specific markings for more info.
Breed Specific Genes:
Jersey Chestnut
Dilution that only affects chestnut based coats. The points are paler than the base coat, similar to regular pangare. the knees and end of the tail are darker than the base coat, either dark brown or black. May cause dapples. Shows as JcJc or Jcjc.
Holstein Tobiano
Marking similar to regular tobiano. The back is always of the base color and the legs are always white. At least a part of the belly is white. There are often base color spots inside the white markings. Show as HtoHto or Htohto.
Charolais White
Marking that causes the horse to be fully white, with pink skin. Different from the regular dominant white, as two of these can be bred together safely. Shows as ChwChw or Chwchw.
White Park
Modifier that turns the coat fully white, with dark skin. TCHs carriers of White Park look like white greys with black ears and legs, but they are born already white instead of progressively greying out. Two carriers may be bred together safely. Shows as WpWp or Wpwp.
Classic Speckled
Marking that looks just like the Speckle Park cow's markings. White topline and underline, and edges like a sabino or an appaloosa marking. If paired with Lp, the markings extend further on the shoulders and back on top of varnish roan. Shows as spsp - Spsp carriers do not show the pattern, but may pass the gene.
Hereford Splash
Marking similar to splash, causes the face and belly to be fully white. The inside and bottom of the legs may be white too, but it always stays minimal. Shows as HsplHspl or Hsplhspl.
Gloucester Splash
Uninterrupted marking that causes the underside, rump and tail to be splashed white. More extreme forms can also affect the entire topline. Never affects the sides, legs or face. Shows as GsplGspl or Gsplgspl.
Belted:
Marking similar to the Belted Galloway's. Thick white band on the barrel of the horse, that doesn't affect the legs like tobiano would. Shows as BgBg or Bgbg.
Stats
Each TCH has three stats: temperament, obedience and conformation - these will be used in competitions in the future. Temperament & obedience can be improved in competitions, by writing about or drawing your TCH. Conformation is an unchangeable stat percentage decided upon TCH creation. Regular adopts may not have conformation under 90% - non-standard heights and wavy manes & tails (custom) will decrease conformation by 10%. Light feathering will decrease conformation by 5% - TCHs may not have any other type of feathering. Inbreeding will be punished by dividing the resulting foal's base conformation percentage by 2, and they will be sterile.
Temperament and obedience will be used in regular competitions, which will be based on artistic expressions such as writing and drawing. Conformation will be used in halter shows, which will bring more points to temperament and obedience, but will also be heavily based on rng.
Regular adopts may have between 30 and 60 in base temperament and obedience, and may not have under 90% conformation unless special edits are added. The cap for temperament & obedience stats at this time is 200.
