Welcome to the Hatchery! In a cozy den, Dragon Fruits make nests for their future Budlings. Babies take four weeks in total to grow, one week to hatch and the other three to be babies. Budlings have flowers growing on their tails instead of fruit. Budlings are also naturally more green than anything no matter what fruit they are BUT they do show their adult colors on their flowers and sometimes splashes of color along their body. The green helps them hide in nature to protect them from predators. Budlings are tiny yet grow fairly quick. Newborns have their flower still as a bud but within a few days it blooms.

RULES

two. please don’t post unless an artist states they’re taking slots
three. related dragons may not have budlings together
four. you can’t trade or sell slots

GUIDELINES

- Any gender can have budlings together.
- Each dragon regardless of gender has a two week long cooldown before they can breed again, don’t breed a dragon fruit on cooldown. You can skip cooldown with a Delicious Fruit Snack in the shop.
- Slots per character are unlimited at the moment
- You have two free slots a month, they can be for either IC or OOC. Any extras will require a Love Flower located in the shop. Users are free to also have one user be an OOC and one be an IC, just state this in the form.
- If you split a litter and both users will be getting a baby, both of your free slots will be used. If only one user receives a baby, only their slot will be used.
- Sometimes you’ll be required to write a prompt, feel free to write one ahead of times that follow one of the pre selected ones below:

You might have noticed some usage of Pureblood and Hybrid. What exactly does this mean and where do they come into play with the hatchery?

Pureblood: a dragon who is only their species of fruit and nothing else
Hybrid: a dragon who is a mix of two (sometimes more) fruit that makes them up

Dragons have their fruit genetics laid out like this

This a pureblood would have both fruit types being the same thing while a hybrid will have two different types.

What a hybrid does is the babies are able to be a mix of all suggested parent gradients and have those colors be on their scales. Not only that but the fruit they grow on their tail too will change. Now their fruit will look like a silly combination of the two fruits they are made of. How do I get a hybrid? The easiest way to start is to breed two Pureblood dragons, it results 99% of the time a hybrid. From there the possibilities are endless.
From hybrids you can even get back to a Pureblood dragon. Just the mixing and matching of fruits gives way to many possibilities and looks these dragons can have.
