I personally... uhm... headcanoned? Is it a hc if it's my design not my character? Saw them? Saw them as hard of hearing, preferring to go by vibrations from sounds. Why? Because I'm hard of hearing and I wanted to lol. I imagine that like me, they can hear still a little, like words in a conversation [if the person speaks up good enough], but can't pick up on lots of sounds.

I think a cool character idea that I once had just like this was a character who couldn't hear. Well, they could, but it didn't make sense to them, and in their mind they only saw shapes and sounds. So others who communicate could draw them shapes or speak a certain way, and they would understand through that :0
