Everything was cold, and they didn't like it.
The small purple kitten trailed through the discarded streets of the sprawling town, ducking between barrels and behind trash bins. At the very least, with all this sneaking they were doing, they'd figure out how to take care of themselves without interference from others..
It seemed like forever before they found a back entrance to a rather large building in the middle of town, and they slipped inside. The difference in the air was immediately noticeable to them as they entered the building, feeling the warmth of the room wash over them. It felt really nice to be warm for the first time in a while.
The kitten decided to take shelter underneath one of the tables, tucking their legs underneath them in a comfortable loaf formation. They'd figure out where they were going next when they woke up in the morning, but for now they were just going to sleep..

"What are you doing?"
They startled awake when someone spoke to them, and their gaze met with a large, fluffy purple cat staring right back at them. They could see that his body was covered in weird markings, with paper and stuff all over him. They scrambled upright as he spoke to them.
"W-Well--"
"You aren't supposed to be here." They said to him, eyes narrowed. "I don't remember you getting permission to be here. You have seven seconds to explain yourself."
"I-It was cold outside!" They responded. "I didn't want to freeze out there!"
The larger cat looked him over, clearly unamused. "I'm going to speak with the Librarian about what to do with you."
They kitten swallowed, shrinking back. Uh oh.
