Learning how to draw furries! Part 2

Postby Wheeze » Wed Nov 30, 2022 10:39 am

Alrighty, changing it to parts because this isn't a daily challenge.

Constructive Criticism is highly encouraged.

Things I have trouble with!
-ears
-tails
-leg placement
-thigh shape
-cheek fluff

I have gotten better with front paws.

Hi!

I draw furries quite often and the things that I'd say you need to work on are:

Draw the head bigger and pronounce the neck a bit more. The headshape itself is actually very cute and I love it, though if you can you should maybe try to give the eyes pupils and outline them a tad more.

The arms look good by themself as a style however they are both very different. Try to mirror the arms to make sure they are the same width and length.

For the legs, I personally look up digitgrade lets and sketch over it, then redraw the legs as close to the original drawing as possible. (NEVER POST TRACED ART EVER WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION) Do that a few times to get the hang of digitgrade.

For the tail, if you're having trouble mirroring the line consistency, copy and paste the first like you make and move it around in order to create the tail, then connect them.

And lastly- Always flip the canvas. It helps so much, I promise.

Ah thank you so much!

I did notice that for the style I was going for I should add a bit more fluff to the neck so thank you for confirming for me!

And I'll remember to make the head a bit bigger I'm just used to drawing humans and their proportions and it messes with me sometimes.

But thank you for the tip with the tail that's actually really smart!!

Absolutely love the progress you’re making so far !!! It really does get easier as you do it honestly. And don’t be fooled, everyone is still learning even when we think we have it figured out 🥰 Don’t be afraid to utilize other people’s styles as a guide if you see something they do that resonates with you !!

It’s gonna sound wrong but I used to trace stuff a lot to learn the muscle memory that comes with art. Not posting or taking credit for whatever product it made, but moreso just to develop the way I wanted to use it in my own style. It’s easy to compare what you do to others, but you’ll find yourself utilizing something you saw in a way that’s unique to your style after time

You’ve got a great foundation so far my friend c:
