RE: claws, I was thinking they're like gel nails haha - y'know if stilettos were bear claw size. So the color/shape/style can totally be changed as often as you'd like. Same goes for lashes. Big, dramatic falsies are their favorite.
For my own likes/dislikes if you're game:
(+)feral, I'm also getting comfortable with this casual style of anthro
(+)weird made up creatures, but otherwise cats/cat-esque are always a safe bet (especially hairless cats..)
(+)"simple" / easily redrawn designs
(+)neutrals with color pops
(+)teeth or claws
(+)awkward/funny expressions
(-)multiple heads
(-)accessories (a simple one or two is fine)
(-)humans or human based mythical beings
These existing characters might give you an idea... although I'm realizing I'm missing quite a few - oops.
