wanted to do something more light-hearted since yesterday's was...rough
meet Griffin! he's a sassy cat that was adopted a couple of days ago! but let me tell you a little about him...
i mostly get scheduled to work with cats nowadays, as i have more experience with them (though don't get me wrong- i love our dogs, too!) Griffin here has always been a challenge. he's what i like to call a "spicy sweet" cat, aka gets overstimulated very quickly. he's the kind of cat that will approach with all of the right signals, then swat when he gets close enough. he seems especially wary of hands/people reaching out. this mostly happened around feeding time, which meant 9 times out of 10 he'd swat the food right out of your hand.
our staff made all sorts of fun knick knacks for him, including a tube to pour his food down to avoid getting hit. i personally crafted a handy divider out of a spare scratching post to block him to one side of his enclosure in order to clean it each day. it's safe to say our staff all let out a sigh of relief when someone finally took him home lol
nevertheless, i'll miss this guy. chances are, his opposition to hands is the result of somebody mishandling him earlier in his life. and beneath his swats, i think there was a cat who really did want to be loved. i hope he does well in his new home!
farewell, Giff- i'll miss the daily slap! it always worked to wake me up lol
