Other: Lex has mixed feelings about the holiday season: some years he looks foward to it all year long, other times he is reminded of those who are no longer physically apart of his life. Last year: he lost a few family members due to old age and sickness and on top of that his girlfriend broke up with him on Christmas eve. He was naturally devastated and had a hard time finding the joy in the holiday season. This year he is trying to celebrate by dedicating his time to helping those in need by volunteering at the food bank, reading holiday stories to little ones at the library and putting together what he calls wellness packs for the homeless shelter. Wellness packs contain: socks, underwear, shirts, a few washcloths, hotel bars of soap, hotel bottles of shampoo and conditioner (he personally asked the hotel if they donate some of these) toothbrush, sample/travel size toothpaste, a baggie of homemade granola and fruit leather.

He specifically labels each pack with the sizes of the socks/underwear and shirts and with what kind of granola/fruit leather he packaged inside. The baggies of granola and fruit leather are labeled individually just in case. This way no one gets the wrong size of clothing or those with allergies to nuts or specific fruits like strawberries gets any granola or fruit leather containing what they are allergic to by mistake. He also spends his spare time helping hand these wellness packs and along with meals out to those who are living in a homeless shelter. He makes sure that every volunteer at the homeless shelter has one of these wellness packs on them in case they come across someone in need outside of volunteering.
