Shadow tells a tale from his youth. When Shadow was young, he went on an overnight hike, and it was there he saw the River Ghost. It was a foggy morning, before the anyone else woke, and Shadow went to drink from the nearby river. As he approached the water, he was shocked to see the river was completely still. As he stood there, he realized the only sound he could hear was his own breathing, no rustling wind or any other animals. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement. Turning, Shadow faced the creature emerging from the fog. A giant black dog, at least twice Shadow's size stared at him with glowing red eyes. Shadow was scared, shaking at the sight of this beast. Suddenly, a raven called from behind, and Shadow jumped, twisting to find the source. Seeing nothing, he turned once more to face the monstrous dog, but it was gone. As Shadow stood there staring at where this ghost dog had been, the fog blew away and the river starting flowing once more as birds started singing their morning songs. Shadow has never been able to explain this phenomenon, but has told the tale of his meeting the River Ghost ever since. (209/500)
