i was so absurdly excited over this pet, you have no idea - if you can't see on your device, its name is an italicized Cyprinodon diabolis - the scientific name of the devils hole pupfish, which is what this pet was inspired by!

they're a super cool species that only exists within the devils' hole within death valley national park. they're critically endangered, and have been extremely difficult to breed in captivity - their very limited habitat and issues with protecting it has often landed them at the center of animal ethics and conservation debates, and their story is just... an extremely interesting ride, and i urge you to do a little reading on them if you get the chance - they're very adorable, very special, and very significant! :^)
