I have a question about the design! (so I'm prepared to do it when I get to yours)

Are the branches/tree supposed to have a smoky appearance or is that just how they're drawn on the ref?
Or are they actually solid parts? o.o;

That's just how they're drawn! Lineless trees are a lot more fun to do
