Prompt:“Silly Musa, you really think your special! Your like everyone else!” A lioness cackled with her small crew of gossips joining in.
Musa simply frowned before watching Mpenda tell them off, it was quite a kind gesture for her to do and he didn’t know how to tell her thanks as she stopped over. So he simply mumbled something before gasping at the pain in his throat. He wasn’t sure what it was but he started wheezing and coughing it out.
Mpenda was slightly disgusted of course but she did care about others, so she pounced on his back sending the shell lodged in his throat onto the ground, “Musa, a shell?” She said as she leapt from his back and in front of him.
As the brown lion panted he simply shook his head,“Thank you, I- I can explain. I have the Hanahaki disease, you know flowers in the lungs that expand till you can’t breath anymore since your the victim of once sided love. It seems mine is coral and shells, and the lioness I love seems to have no interest in me...”
Mpenda gasped softly,“Who do you love?”
“You...” Musa said as he regained his breath.
Her eyes went wide,“H-H-How can I save you? Please Musa tell me how to help you! I want to love you but I don’t know where to start.”
“You can’t rush love, Mpenda but you can start by getting to know me.” He whispered softly as he sat down so he could rest.
“Well alright...” ,Mpenda said haphazardly,“What was a distinct memory from your cub hood?” She ask inquisitively.
“I remember one time me and my litter mates was playing on some frozen water, little did I know the ice was weak. So I crashed through the ice and fell through to the frozen depths below. Every second I was down there, the higher the risk of me not making it out became more evident. Till this kind lioness pulled me out, she healed me of my hypothermia... Her powers turned my neck fur and tail this blondish color which I don’t mind but she wanted more. I didn’t know what was happening at the time or that she was a water demon but she ended up fusing our souls together and now she is forever stuck with me.”
Mpenda didn’t know what else to say nor to do,“My safi! You really are the
special case aren’t you.”
“That’s why my fur is never really dry, and yes I like to think I am.” Musa said before being silenced and blushing by the lioness with her nuzzles. It felt good to finally get off his chest to someone on why he is so special without being jeered at.
