In Umbra Luna Est is one of the older characters that I have. Her name was inspired by the song
“The Moon Rises” by PonyPhonic. As I still enjoy the song and wanted to keep this trend of Latin names going, I decided to name this Mutato after the song as well.
In Umbra Luna Est is Latin for “The Moon is in Shadow” and is a direct line from the middle of the song. This Mutato is named
Lux et Mollis Evacuatur, meaning “Soft and Fading Light” when translated from Latin to English. The opening lines of the song are these: “The soft and fading light has crossed the west horizon, and has bidden us goodnight! And what a lovely night it is, to walk a moonlit field; to see the softer shades that are, by starlight, now revealed.” I translated part of these lines from English to Latin to keep with the Latin theme I have going, and I also felt that this line describes this Mutato beautifully. Look at how the horizon has just a bit of blue sky peeking out at the very base, and how the design fades into a deeper hue of teal blue, darkening until it reaches a beautiful navy shade. The lovely orange-pink clouds that dot the sky truly show the simple beauty of the landscape. The trees and telephone poll showed in shadow are a wonderful addition to the scene, and add another layer of beauty to the panorama. The midnight blue tail with stars scattered about that dimly glow and sparks of fireworks in glittering colors light up the sky, and wouldn’t be able to be seen nor appreciated if it wasn’t as dark as it is. This Mutato’s eyes are like two dazzling gems, sparkling against the night sky in shades of sunset orange and magenta. For these reasons, I feel that this Mutato perfectly fits the name that I have chosen. To be clear, I am a linguistic major and I am bilingual - I speak English and I sign American Sign Language. I do not know Latin except for a few phrases here and there, but I am fascinated by different languages and hope to one day learn more.

favorite color:Lux’s favorite color is a deep shade of blue that is almost black. To be specific, the HEX code is
#09202F. Lux enjoys this color because it represents the growing darkness as light fades away at the end of every day. And when light fades away, Lux knows it is only a matter of time before it comes back again to bring with it the sun and a new day of new opportunities. Lux also enjoys this dark shade of blue because without the darkness, we would never see the stars or many other beautiful things of the night, like glow sticks, lightning bugs, fireworks, or sparklers.
