Prompt:Sugarsnap was abandoned as a kit.
Alone and scared, she wandered the pines, hoping to find a nice place to sleep. She had no knowledge of survival other than her instincts to hide, so she did just that. It seemed like days she sat in between the roots of a tree, waiting for someone to save her. Crackling from a few tail lengths away caught her attention. She laid, still with fear of what predator had finally decided to show up.
Out of a bush popped to toms, chattering like mice. Relieved that they were cats, she revealed herself to the two toms, catching them by surprise. One tom gasped, the other widened his eyes, feeling pity for the poor scrap. The larger tom slowly and gently walked up to her and sat. "My, my. What a poor sight. Dear, come here." The small kit shuddered and walked to curl up on top of the large toms paws, and the other tom bounced over to comfort the kit. Both toms groomed her, taking off the stale scent of twoleg and replacing that with their clan scent.
"What's your name little one?" the smaller white tom asked the kit. In a voice as light as a whisper, she responded with a quick "Sugar" before collapsing from exhaustion and an empty stomach. The large tom quickly grabbed her by the scruff and mumbled, "Quick, she needs food and herbs, now." Both toms raced back to their home.
Sugar awoke, curled beside a cats belly. She yawned, snuggling in closer.
"Well, look who's awake." Both of the toms she had encountered before were next to her, the large tom sitting next to her, and the white tom was curled around her. They were both smiling, happy that they could save her.
A grey tom walked in with a bundle of herbs. Both of the toms greeted him with a a flick of their tails, but the tom just rolled his eyes. He sat down his herbs and spoke. "You two can stop smiling like idiots now. She's fine, just make sure she's fed and stays warm. Keep her in the nursery, as long as someone is staying with her she'll be fine."
The large tom thanked him. "Also," the grey tom spoke again. "We may have to postpone the whole becoming an apprentice for a couple moons. She needs to build an immune system."
The toms meowed a goodbye. The white tom took her to the nursery and brought a mouse with them. The large tom followed them there, and said to them, "I've got to go patrol, but I'll see you two when I get back."
The white tom stayed with her, on and off for a few moons. Both toms were incredibly kind and patient with her, treating her like she was their own kit. The toms couldn't have kits on their own, and it was really a sign from starclan that they found her. She was coddled growing up, so much so that she requested a mentorship change. She appreciated her fathers trying to help her, but she didn't want them to go easy on her. She loves them, but she just wants to have her own life now. This really hurt Briarstripe and Snowrush, they just wanted to be supportive.
As a warrior, she can't help but think she could have been nicer, or worded it differently. She practically owned them her life, what a way to treat them.
