ive been getting into the whole closed species thing so i thought it might be fun to do one of my own! i havent seen too many reptilian-type species, so im taking matters into my own hands hehe. The main features of these guys are unusual hands with large Dromaeosaur "terror-claws" on the thumbs, curved tusks, and a claw-tipped tail resembling a Drepanosaurus!

at the moment, this is a pretty casual species, with mostly free adopts, but its still a closed species! there will be some adopts coming soon! this is definitely more for fun than anything else, I just really like designing characters, and also. lizards and dinosaurs r good

About the Keinocys

The Keinocys are reptilian creatures around the size of a housecat. They typically have compact and sturdy bodies covered in tiny, almost leather-like scales. A Keinocys can be easily identified by their spike-tipped and prehensile tails, which are typically used for hunting and fishing. Their hands are oddly shaped, with two longer, claw-tipped fingers and two smaller, blunted-nail fingers, while the back feet are rounded and not clawed at all. The thumbs on their hands are tipped with a wicked raptor-like “terror claw” used for similar tasks as the clawed tail. The hands also have gecko-like grippy pads that let them climb any surface with ease. They are one of three remaining branches of Archosaurs, the other two being birds and crocodilians.
These intelligent creatures have complex social structures. They tend to create systems of spiraling tunnels around riverbanks and lakes, where they live as a community. Some opt to live alone, but even a lone Keinocys tends to keep in contact with nearby burrow-towns.

No two Keinocys looks alike- in fact, they tend to differ in unusual and almost extreme ways. Their DNA is far more unstable than any other creature, so the population has so many mutations that a “species standard” is almost impossible to pin down. Practically every Keinocys has a strange feature about them, and while these traits sometimes can be passed down, they will sometimes arise without precedent.
It has even been observed that a Keinocys will change and mutate during their lifespan, however this is quite rare.

Groups of Keinocys tend to coincide with unusual and magical events. This is because a Keinocys can act as a magical medium. While many Keinocys are unable to wield magic themselves, they attract and channel magical energy innately. This has led to Keinocys being popular choices as familiars for magic-users, alongside their intelligence and calm natures.

Traits and Rarities

There are four different types of Keinocys. The ranks are usually classified by number of features rather than type, due to the numerous and varied mutations that can appear.

-“standard” on-base features
-colored blood
-can have up to 2 extra features (such as horns, fins, claws, etc)
-no fur/feather covering or hair/head feather crests
-one or two “rhino” nose horns
-any ear edits

-three or more extra features
-removal of “rhino” nose horns, or more than 2
-hairstyle/feather crest (short, above chin)
-tail edits
-up to 1 Bizarre trait

-2 or more Bizarre traits
-1 Supernatural trait
-extra eyes/fingers/toes
-eyeless
-increasing/decreasing the terror claw length
-Hair/feather crest that reaches below the chin

-2 or more Supernatural traits
-extreme plant growth (minor plant growth can count as an "extra feature" for other rarities)
-nonliving growth/limb replacement
-any extreme/heavy edits that significantly alter the form/sillouette of a Keinocys
-magical ability (possessed by all Supernatural Keinocys)
