Every day, her paws seemed to lead her there.

The waterfall was a common place to relax, especially for younger cats with no duties. Mothers brought their kittens to play on the stepping stones, and apprentices chased each other up and down the rocky slopes.

She settled by the water's edge, wrapping her tail patiently around her paws. She was bound to receive some odd glances and remarks, but it was easy to brush it off as a deputy's duty or her personal task.

It was her responsibility, she reassured herself, not only as a deputy but as part of the clan, to watch over others and put an end to risky games before an incident occurred.

She would never admit that she... enjoyed it. Still, if this was true, she wasn't sure why she did.

Thoughtfully she pondered, watching the kits splash about in the shallows, stubby tails high in the air.

She didn't know whether it was the joy in their laughter or the carefree spring in their steps, but it filled her with an indescribable warmth.

For a moment she was back in that old creek, banks bristling with cattails swaying in the breeze, smooth stones beneath her paws and water tickling her belly. There was a faint voice, sweet and oh-so-familiar. She never thought she'd hear that voice again.

"Mama?"

"I'm here, darling, I'm here."

And then the memory was gone, and she was left with nothing but a sorrowful smile and tears in her eyes.

his claws dug deep into the bark of the tree. pulling himself up, he gazed around at the wide view.
"beautiful," he murmured. this was the highest he had ever been in a tree, and boy was the view simply magnificent.
his mate did not share the same desire to climb high up in the canopy and see the world below your paws. it was truly an amazing feeling, knowing that you can see everything for miles. up here it was safe, and up here it was calm. few owls ever flew around in the catlands, which was a disappointment, but sometimes he saw them in the distance with their giant wings beating up and down, up and down..

The sun was high in the sky, turning the thick, humid air around the TansyClan camp almost unbearable. DeerWatcher flicked her ears and an insect buzzed persistently by her head. EmberStar huffed from her spot beside her.

"Stop moving, or I'll kick you out."

DeerWatcher turned to reply, but EmberStar's eyes were closed. A ways behind her, DeerWatcher could see a group of siblings that had just been made trainees bickering and swiping at each other as they laid sprawled out in a patch of shade. DeerWatcher flicked her tail over EmberStar's ears.

"What do you think you'll name them?"

EmberStar opened one eye halfway, "What are you talking about?"

DeerWatcher gestured towards the trainees with a paw, "The new trainee's. What'll you name them once they're promoted?"

EmberStar sighed and closed her eyes, "I don't know, DeerWatcher. I've barely met them. They haven't even begun training yet."

"What about...SpeckleDust?" She asked as her eyes locked onto the only female of the group, a pale brown tortoiseshell.

EmberStar scoffed, "What in the world would her token be? A dustball?"

"Well if you think it's so bad then come up with something better!" DeerWatcher pouted. Her only response was an unintelligible grumble.
"Maybe SpeckleBranch? Oh! I know! SpeckleNose! SpeckleTail? Maybe SpeckleDuck, or feather?"

EmberStar growled low in her throat and hit her in the face with her tail as hard as she could manage.

"Pebble? Rock? Turtle? Buck? OH, or Doe! Are you even listing to me? EmberStar!"

Leading a clan was certainly not a position Siren ever thought she would be in, let alone for the Order of misfits bound together by their connection to no one. It was exhausting, things never seemed to end for her and truly, did they ever? Though, she was very grateful for any downtime she could get, especially if it meant messing with her deputy. She and Hollow were best of friends from the start. He was running the rag tag group of cats when she had stumbled upon them but she automatically could tell he did not have the talent or the patience to oversee them. Hollow was stiff and could never demand the attention he sought. After staying with them for a while it was clear that she would be the one in charge.

This being said, she loved to spook the cat, much to his demise. She was quite the prankster, at least she thought so. She would hold her head up high and hold back her snickers as she would get reprimanded by her friend for scaring the fur off of him time and time again. Usually she would do this by camping out somewhere in hiding, waiting for him to come around and play creepy, distorted sounds, beckoning his demise in echoed and hushed voices.

Through all of the torture, she couldn't ask for a better deputy by her side. She was fond of Hollow, even if he could stand to be a better people person. (250!)
