Her mother had turned her down at birth, only caring for the rest of the litter, and pushing her aside. So, of course, naturally one would think that perhaps this kit is sick? Let’s take her to the vet; upon inspection, Dart was perfectly healthy. Though her mother still seemed to ignore the kit, so she was bottle fed until she was fully weened. The farm dog’s mother had just weened her puppies and they were all given to new homes, so momma dog was relatively restless– seemingly always on the search for her puppies. The owners carefully introduced the kit and mother dog, just as momma dog pressed her nose on the kit, it was like it clicked and her thoughts were that she needed to be taken care of; Dart was raised alongside momma dog and the farm dog, though she was bottle fed until weened.
Dart has looked up to momma dog since her eyes opened, she was the mother Dart didn’t receive upon birth. She remained on the heels of momma dog and would never be found without her. To this day, Dart is completely attached to momma dog, though now she has a faintly white muzzle.
