Valcorun Ref

===========

If anyone would like to offer advice / constructive criticism on this guy's outfit, I'd be happy to hear it!
I really need help learning how to design clothes ^^'''

Please keep in mind that I'd like to keep my characters' outfits relatively simple, though!
I'm really hoping to do a comic or some animatics with them someday, & simpler tends to be better for repeated drawings.

everyone say hello to Valcorun Sseriokh

a d&d character who i can never actually play as because doing so would require me to be Smart

Profile wrote:Valc is a clever, observant dragonborn with a knack for doing whatever it takes to win. He’s good at tricking his opponents, leading them on and psyching them out- making them think they're confusing him or tiring him out, right up until they're not. He also has a gift for words- he knows exactly what to say to infuriate anyone. It’s as if he can take one look at his opponents and dig deep into their minds to find out what topic might chip away at their patience the most.

Valc is always watching people closely, hoping to learn more information that he can use to his advantage. However, no matter how clever he is, he can’t seem to keep himself distanced and detached from his targets for very long. The more he watches a person, the more he finds himself relating to them- or even respecting them.

Still, more than one of his classmates have found themselves in the mud with Valc's blade at their back, fuming that they didn't see it coming. An aspiring army leader has to establish his reputation early, after all.

so you see how it might be a problem that i'm easily confused and about as eloquent as a stack of bricks

nobody:
not a single person:
me: here's some trivia bout Valc

- he's a battlemaster fighter in training
- as are most of the kids in his class
- he will probably multiclass in rogue though

- he's one of the better fighters in the class (his dad taught him some swordplay early on)
- the army's higher-ups are looking for strategists and have their eye on him

- there's just one problem
- he's a poster boy for pragmatism
- he will do anything it takes to win a fight
- unlike most dragonborn from his homeland, he is not above dishonorable tactics
- this makes the recruiters think "oh no he's gonna commit war crimes"
- they may have no choice but to recruit him though. the island's army is already dangerously small

- his dad was a super morally-upright paladin, Matoah the Stonebreaker
- they actually got along great, they just had some disagreements about the lengths one should go to to win a fight or stay alive
- Matoah was always super patient in their discussions though. never raised his voice, always treated Valc like an equal
- when his dad died in a horrific way, Valc grew *even more* cynical & willing to cheat
- cause if Matoah had ***just put his honor aside for five seconds*** he might still be alive today
- Valc is. maybe just a little bitter about that
- boi misses his dad

- he's not super well off
- don't mess with his belongings, he can't replace them easily so he'll get super mad at you
- you do not want the boy known for slipping skin-burning oil into peoples' armor to be mad at you
- the bracers and pauldrons are the only pieces of armor he actually owns so far
- the Charge lends him armor for class
- he also lives in the army barracks for the time being cause he has nowhere else to go
- his family lives two cities away

- his life goal is to avenge his father
- his teacher also wants to avenge his father so this works out perfectly
- he also wants to make enough gold to help his little sister Heshan move away from their neglectful mom and scary stepdad
- Heshan is already on that but Valc doesn't know yet

- the sword pictured here was inherited from his father
- he's ambidextrous and prefers to wield two swords with no shield
- for class he uses his dad's sword and one the teacher provides for him

- he collects keys
- it doesn't matter where they come from or if they actually open anything
- if it's key-shaped, he will find a way to add it to his key hoard
