Fable: ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* O R I O N *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Many keldines know the story of the boy who entered the dark zone, where the land treats no one with kindness. It is a treacherous zone, and the last one who entered is rumored to now haunt the entrance, and monsters and ghouls lurk the area. Yet, Orion never listened to that tale, as it was used to teach youngins to listen to their parents for fear they would throw them into the dark zone.
His plan to enter the zone was heard by an elder, Dekota, who warned him with the same story. Orion laughed, and entered anyway.
As he expected, there was nothing there, just darkness and trees. Yet, what he didn’t expect was the hut he found as he got further in. It was lit up from the inside, and seemingly no one around. He knocked gently on the door, which slowly creaked open.
“Come in…” A whispery voice called, and so he did. The voice came from someone sitting in a chair facing the door. A hood covered their face, and their body was covered in tattered sheets. “Why are you here, boy?” The thing rose from it’s seat, seeming to grow as it stood. Orion took a step back, but replied anyways.
“To see the zone, I wanted to explore.” His voice wavered, and the thing laughed.
“Well come on. There isn’t much to see, but I’ll show you the sights.” The thing held out a massive paw for Orion to take, and so he did. They walked out of the hut, past the trees, and to a field, where stars could be seen so clearly, it was almost as if they were touchable.
“Did anyone warn you of this place, boy?” The thing asked after minutes of Orion looking at the stars.
“Yes, everyone does.” Orion kneels on the grass, and flops onto his back.
“Well there isn’t anything to fear, just the darkness.” They pause, “You like the stars, don’t you, boy?”
“Yes, they’re so bright here, so close.”
“I can show you them, a place where they are even brighter and bigger.” Orion stands, awaiting their next move, but remembering that he should get home.
“But, I need to get home.. I’ve been gone for so long.” The thing doesn’t listen, and holds out his hand. Orion doesn’t take it, and turns back the way they came from.
“It’ll only take a minute, boy. Let’s go.” Orion listens, it’ll be an adventure, right? “Do you know how the stars got here?” Orion shakes his head. “Well, they came from little keldines who never listened to their parents, they came from me.” Orion freezes, and the thing drops his hood, revealing his mutated form, “and now you are one too.”
The forest glows around Orion, and the brightness blinds him. His body is lifted off the ground and towards the sky, bending and growing until he becomes just a few stars in the sky.- ☆ -
