Name: Katcha (Kah-cha)
Pronouns: She/they
Fav song from the 2000's: Dirty Little Secret (Released 2005)
What were they doing/where were they when they first heard it: As Katcha's eyes drifted up, they locked with Arina's. The way she looked at her.. it made her feel so warm, so safe. A gentle smile greeted her gaze as well as arms softly draped around her, pulling her into a light hug. Dirty Little Secret began to play in the background, along with the clamor of the party.
"Wont you be my dirty little secret?" Arina asked quietly with a chuckle, then leaned down toward Katcha, the doe-eyed girl before her. She couldn't reply, the breath being knocked out of her as they kissed. Everything felt so unmistakably right, nothing could convince her that this wasn't where she was meant to be in this exact moment.
Why does it mean so much to them:It was the first day she realized she wasn't straight, and that there was something more to her identity. She finally knew what felt
wrong. Arina was one of the higher-class girls at school that just wanted to experiment and nothing more, which Katcha was fine with at the moment since that's what she wanted as well. The girl was too uppity for her anyway, but she awakened the feelings within her, which she couldn't thank her enough for.
As this song played, they kissed under the stairs, allowing the barriers in her mind to melt away as she realized who she really was. She remained Arina's dirty little secret for three months before Arina cut it off. Katcha was devastated, as she had started to fall for her.
As her heart recovered, she listened to the song on repeat, before deciding that her sexuality wasn't a 'dirty little secret' anymore. The next day, she told her mother exactly how she felt and was thankfully welcomed with open arms and no judgment.
She now has a girlfriend, named
Arcana, whom she loves with all of her heart, and would never do anything to hurt her, and knows Arcana feels the same. Katcha feels as if she has this song, as well as Arina, to thank. It taught her to love freely and to live her truth.
