Back Story;
Mist swirled around the forest on a dark summers night, the moon was hidden under the clouds as fog rose and whisped above the grounds surface. Everything was calm and quiet, until one fatal night. There was a distant bang and a loud thud, Ghoul woke up from a deep slumber, ears pricked, tail nervously twitching. At this time he was still a young keld, his older brother Jay was still sound asleep in the den beside him.
He nervously started to drape his tail over his older brothers nose, in hopes he might wake up.
Suddenly, Ghouls ears pricked up and his blood began to boil slightly, he started shoving Jay from behind, thundering footsteps began to flood his ear drums. He suddenly yelled out “Jay!! Wake up!!” In a flood of panic.
Jay sprang you so quickly he hit his head on a hanging rock and grumbled to himself, “Huh?! Wha-ow.. what’s going on?..” Ghoul stared up at him in fear. “I heard a loud bang and thud.. a few moments later I’m hearing the sound of rushing footsteps.. I’m scared brother”
Jay yawned and flicked his tail sitting up straight, he started to make strange faces with his eyes and muzzle. Suddenly another loud bang followed by a thud, this time accompanied by a loud screech. Poachers.

Jay grabbed the back of Ghouls scruff and jumped out of the cave they were sleeping in.
Suddenly the sky turned dark, all they could hear were footsteps as Jay began to turn and run in the opposite direction of the footsteps as fast as he could. Ghoul whimpered and started shivering “it’s okay Ghoul, nothing will happen to us I promise.” Jay muffled as he continued to run full speed.
“But Jay how can you be so sure?” Ghoul whimpered. Jay huffed, “because. It won’t alright? Have faith in me little brother.” He continued to muffle around Ghouls scruff, attempting to reassure his younger kin.

Jay continued to run, as fast and as far as he could. He ran all night and all day until finally, the loud bangs and thuds had stopped. No more footsteps, no more motors. Nothing but peace and quiet. They stumbled across an open field with beautiful keldines walking to and from.
“Welcome young Keldines” a happy and majestic looking male called to them.
Jay set down Ghouls scruff beside him and stared unphased at the keldine in front of him.
Ghoul smiled “hey! Hello! You look just like us!! My names-“ Jay growled softly and brushed his tail in front of Ghouls mouth. “Quiet pipsqueak. Let me do the talking I trust no one.”
“Awe come on strong guy we’re not going to bite!
From what it looks like you two could use a bite though am I right!” Ghoul jumped up and down excitedly chanting “yes oh yes we haven’t eaten in day’s please!”
Jay scoffed and stared at the male, “do not pull anything. I’m watching you.”
The male keldine smiled “ oh come on now young one who hurt you? We’re a welcoming clan, we won’t do anything to hurt one of our own. A bit of berries for the young one eh?”
Ghoul jumped excitedly and ran over to the male Keldine devouring the berries almost instantly.
“Now, won’t you tell me what happened aren’t you hungry mister-?”
Jay rolled his eyes and sat in front of the male keldine, looking over at Ghouls wagging tail and back at the male keldine.
“My name is Jay. That is younger brother Ghoul. We were abandoned. Our parents were murdered by the poachers. I have been raising him on my own. Ghoul woke up to gun shots and loud thuds, they were killing wild Keldines. So I grabbed him as hard as I could and we ran as far as we could. As soon as I reached your valley, and forest whatever this is, we couldn’t hear them anymore so we thought it was safe. That’s why I stopped and where you came into the picture.”
The male smiled and nodded giving Ghoul a pat on the head as Ghoul smiled up at him with a mouth full of berries.
“Well, you’re both welcome to stay here in the land of Keldine of course, there’s thousands of us who live here and protect each other for the same reasons you’re protecting you’re young brother. The poachers won’t come down here because we live in such large numbers, where we stand is only the very beginning of our land, you haven’t seen the caverns and caves yet, the berry fields, or the hunting forest. Can’t forget about the shimmering river that our younger pups love to play and learn to fish in, you’re both welcome to stay and make dens of your own. Usually the dens are separated by age, but since you came together you may den together wherever you chose, if you decided to stay here of course. There’s lots for me to show you but you must make a decision now, we will escort you both out and help you on your way, or you may follow me and I will show you our lands.”

Ghoul stared in awe at the male keldine his red and orange scales shimmered in the light of the day, Ghoul looked up and tilted his head at Jay who was frowning and staring at the male with intensity. Ghoul trotted over to Jay and whimpered, “brother?” Jay broke his glare and showed concern looking down at Ghoul, “yes brother?” Ghoul stared up at his brother sitting at his paws and looking up at him, “can we stay? Oh please! I want to meet other keldines and work together, I don’t want to sleep in a cave my whole life, I want to meet other keldines that are nice and don’t try to eats us! And we can still den together, please brother please!!” Ghoul pleaded with Jay.
Jays eyes fell to his paws and he growled slightly, causing Ghoul to back up and sit beside the male keldine.
Jay looked up with his teeth showing, “look. We’ve been alone for a long time.. we don’t need anyone” Ghouls face dropped, the red Keldine looked up and smiled “and no one said you needed us, but I’d like you to join us and be safe, rather then become poacher food, and a nice fur pelt for them to sell. Don’t you think?”
The male keldine stood up and look Jay in the face “I don’t know what happened, but I’m sorry it did. Follow me please, let us show you what family is.”
Jay growled softly, flicking his tail. “Fine.”
Ghoul’s face was riddled with excitement “oh thank you Jay thank you!!!”
Ghoul bounced happily beside the male red Keldine as he took them around showing them their new home.
Jay followed behind, keeping his distance but watching carefully.
The male keldine showed the two around every hunting ground, the rivers, and finally the dens where they met a couple younger keldines and had made friends.
It was now dark, and Jay and Ghoul headed to sleep,
Ghouls smiled “brother?”
Jay growled but lifted his ears, ghoul smiled “thank you for being the best big brother ever, thank you for giving me a new home and a place to grow and have a life!” He snuggled his brother and curled up close to him, eyes closed with a big smile.
Jay then in that moment snapped out of it, he laid there, eye brows raised.. and started to smile. He thought to himself; “you’re right brother I didn’t do this for me, I did this for you. Welcome home”
Jay nodded and started to fall asleep, Ghouls snores could be heard miles away.
He smiled.
“He’s going to have a great life here.” He thought.
