Excuse the extra sloppiness of this, and perhaps some slight anatomical errors here and there. Just a little thing i wanted to sketch up that i hope will help some folks out. ^^
Just a little something demonstrating how i proportion most canines, fox and cat animals / characters. During the sketch phase after finishing sketching the head, i make another circle thats more or less the same size as the circle i made for the head to use for the chest frame and go from there. I also use the head circle to measure length and height as well.
It may not be "the" way it's supposed to be done, perhaps pretty unorthodox, even, but it seems to work for me pretty well for my toony art style, heheh. x)
As an important side note: this may not work exactly as planned for some specific breeds of animals, as some may have longer or shorter / stockier legs than others. just more of a general guideline for the most part that i use. What i would also add to this is to definitely not be afraid to reference the ever livin' heck out of things (as long as you arent directly copying someones work without permission of course). There's definitely NO shame in using references, no matter what someone else might say. <3
