… but you're not sure how to tell it right?
I've been planning the same story for 5+ years, and I still haven't started actually writing it. I have a dozen or so random clips written, but there are massive gaps between each because I'm so worried I'll mess up and have to start over..
Which is a ridiculous fear because any writing is good practice and I.. definitely need practice.
Anyway, since drawing seems to be one of the few ways I can inspire myself to write,
here's the clip I wrote for this drawing:
--
The grey cat stepped forward, paws trembling nervously as she neared the Artifact. She hesitated, one paw raised just above the metal circle on the ground. Was she really doing this? Her thoughts flit back to the events of the past month, and she nodded to herself. Yes, she was. She had to.
The molly stepped forward, all four paws on the circle, and waited.
A deep rumble rose from the earth, the sound slowing forming words. "WHAT IS IT YOU SEEK?"
"Peace," the cat said, voice intense and determined. "Equality. Unity. But above all, justice."
There was a Silence after that, a deep, penetrating Silence that seemed to thicken the air itself. It closed in around the molly, and for a brief moment, all her doubts and insecurities surfaced in a massive wave, threatening to drown her. She was overwhelmed with the burning desire to run, flee, get away from whatever it was she was speaking to. She squeezed her eyes closed, clenching her teeth in determination. She could do this. This was her Destiny, and nothing would hold her back.
The Silence pulled away, and the earth rumbled: "VERY WELL."
The sound faded away, and the cat was left in a dark silence again, though this one was less.. sentient. Still, after a few moments of waiting, her patience was up. "That's it?!" she demanded. "I come all this way, and that's--"
Her voice cut off as a bright orb of light illuminated above her muzzle. She squinted in the sudden brightness, then gasped softly as the small light landed on her nose. One by one, similar lights across the cavern lit up, quietly flitting towards her. The circle under her paws began to glow, and in less than a minute hundreds upon hundreds of fireflies had appeared and were circling around her, spinning, spinning, spinning...
As quickly as it had begun, the vortex of fireflies dispersed, their lights flickering out as they drifted away and left the cat standing alone in a vast, open field of startlingly green grass. The Artifact was no longer beneath her paws, and in the light of the full moon, a dark smudge in the distance -- a building? -- was the only visible break in the sea of grass.
Destiny looked back and forth, then turned to the sky and yelled, "Thanks for nothing, you useless hunk of rock!"

Notes for me;;
- Tail is actually that long. Squirrel tail!
- Listened to Shatter Me, Lindsey Stirling, Nightstep version while drawing/writing
- Destiny explains to Mel that fireflies are considered one of their symbols, and Mel asks "Why? They live for, like, a day and then they die. That's the complete opposite of us." Triggers this flashback, then Destiny just says there's a history behind it
- Destiny came from a world with cat/human shapeshifters? Or something that means she was already adjusted to having a human form
- Before this, something happened to her family (one sister, maybe younger adopted brother, + parents and maybe a grandparent) and town, likely linked to an unjust war she and Fate wanted to fight in to protect her home
- Fate follows Destiny into the cave and asks for something similar but adds "power" or something to the requests
- Honestly future me if you don't remember what happens after all this you were either hit in the head really hard (in which case I'm very sorry and hope you get your memories back because you have a lot of great story stuff you've never written down) or gave up on your story and forgot (in which case shame on you)
If you ask me questions about my story I will love you forever
