Username: Cranberries
Name: Nyx, sort of a nickname for Phoenix. Nyx is also the Greek personification of the night. I enjoy names that imply the opposite of something's appearance.
Gender: Male
Prompt answer: Despite his size, Nyx has loads of confidence. He's well aware that his shiny and vibrant feathers are impressive, especially to the ladies! He's never let his size bother him because he knows his raw confidence and charismatic personality more than make up for it. If someone were to tease him about his size (though he knows no one would dare) he would simply feel pity, for only a being with no eyes would miss his beauty.
Expanded Name Backstory/Inspiration:
When I saw this cockatrice, I immediately thought of my old lizard, Phoenix. He was a yellow bearded dragon with the most vibrant orange beard I've ever seen. Despite being on the small side, he was the most proud & confident dragon I had encountered(until I got my next one). My bedroom was his bedroom, a glass aquarium was not good enough. Being his owner loyal servant, I didn't mind this, but made him his own bed across the room from mine. A few years ago he even chased me out of it because the brown socks I was wearing somehow looked to similar to another bearded dragon for his liking (They had fox faces on the toes...I think that boy just had poor eyesight). I had another bearded dragon before him, my first reptile ever, named Slick. We got him from a family friend. Bearded dragons are usually rough and spiky, so his name was very ironic and is why I have an affinity for similarly ironic names.
I wanted to name this Elenmorian Dragon after Phoenix, but thought "Phoenix" was too on the nose. I looked up what "nix" meant, and found the definition/spelling above. It was just too perfect for me to pass up!
