"Hey ol' tomcat"
Adrien found himself leaning against the barrier that kept him from the chasm. He watched the white and orange feline follow along the opposing side, felt grimy and stained. Adrien rested his head in his hands and deeply sighed.
The cat let out a soft meow, grabbing the man's attention to look into the creatures odd eyes. He squinted in the dim light.
"You're just like me eh buddy?"
His wounds were healing, the ribs being the main issue now, breathing was still difficult and moving wasn't easy. The cat seemed to have similar injuries.
"We're just at the bottom of the food chain, trying to climb higher up."
Did the cat nod? He couldn't tell if he did or if it was just his lack of sleep playing with his mind. Man, he was tired.
He hoped he didn't let Aiden down when he came back to the Broken Tiles, wearing his jacket again. At least he wasn't as bad as before.
He didn't want to be.
