"Comet, dear, haven't you heard that story a hundred times already?" giggled the molly as she pulled a piece of cloth into the hole. They were getting ready to sleep and somehow, she knew her son will ask for that story again.
"But ma!" mewed the young kitten, "You know it's my favorite story! Tell me about Philis!"
The molly sighed. "If it makes you fall asleep, then alright."
The kitten purred happily at those words, and quickly followed hos mother into their home. He bundled up at his mother's side and with a yawn, he listened to his mom.
"Once upon a time, when humans were still in need of the help of horses and other animals, a young little kitten was born under the light of stars. He was a short one, but tough and lively! And stubborn as well, they say, even when he grew up!
His name was Philis.
Just like others in his guild, Philis looked like an ordinary cat. But in reality, he was a shapeshifter, one who could be both a cat and a human!
If there was one thing Philis loved, it was humans. They fascinated him; how they talked, how they sang songs, how they worked, everything about them interested him! It was his dream to one day unite felines and humans.
But when he showed his ability to them, he was deemed a monster, a demon, anything bad a two legged could think of, and he almost lost his life when they attacked him out pf fear!
But Philis didn't run. He went back to his guild. "They're just scared! They have to learn we're not a threat!" he said, but his guild would've rather moved to a different place than confront those furless monsters again. And he would've no choice but to follow them or become a stray.
Knowing that without their help he'd achieve nothing, he accepted his fate and helped the guild prepare for the journey.
But just as they were ready to go, they heard a loud roar coming from the human village: Philis saw a fearsome creature, a giant lizard with wings dive down and spit fire all over the houses!
Abandoning his guild, Philis ran into the village and using his ability of transformation, he helped the people escape the fire.
But he wasn't done yet! The beast must be slain or it'll come back! Philis gathered his friends and some humans and together they managed to kill the fearsome beast!
But a victory never comes without a cost: during the battle, Philis was gravely injured, and by morning, he was gone.
His dream, though, was at last fulfilled. The little village and his guild united at last, and he was declared a hero, and although he's gone, some say his guild is still around even to this day, spreading his words and trying to unite shapeshifters and humans once again, for good."
