i'd like to preface this by saying that i have multiple disabilties myself and that i'm doing this to help cope with them and to for awareness! however, several of the disabilities i will be doing i do not have, and if you do have them and want to make sure that they're portrayed properly, please send me a PM! also, if you have any questions about this, you can post it here or PM me!
now that that's out of the way! i'm rather nervous about doing this but i never see myself represented in even simple things like adopts or media, so i wanted to do something both for myself and other disabled people!
for the next two weeks, i'll be doing an anthro adopt that has a disability and i'll be hosting a competition to win them, just like with any other adopt. each competition will have both normal adopt things (draw to adopt, raffle, personality comp, etc.) but i will also ask people to find one myth or stereotype about the disability/disorder/mental illness and explain why it's wrong, or something to that degree.
i'll try and get one adopt done each day but as i have executive dysfunction and i'm a spoonie i can't guarantee that.
the adopts for the next two weeks will be:
1. hypotonia
2. chronic fatigue syndrome
3. legal blindness
4. dysgraphia
5. wheelchair use
6. tourette's
7. autism
8. generalized anxiety disorder
9. other specified dissociative disorder {OSDD}
10. endometriosis
11. bipolar disorder / manic depression (different people prefer different terms so i'm listing them both!)
12. agoraphobia
13. insomnia
14. attention deficit hyperactivity disorder {ADHD}
for the curious, i'm autistic, i have anxiety, hypotonia, ADHD, and plurality that is clinically acknowledged but not enough to qualify for a DID/OSDD diagnosis
i'll start posting adopts tomorrow so please stay tuned!
