This Litter belongs to a rather large pride that was on the move from there old territory and in the mist of their travels there was a horrid blizzard that picked up. Do to the fast winds, hail and stone they cubs where separated from their parents and their pack and lost in the thick pine forest they where traveling too.

-found near the mountains scared and shivering, buried under the snow after the blizzard had passed. kasiri saw the moving snow and approached with caution, weighing out the possibility that it could be an intruder. he pawed at the snow until it revealed the scared cub, who reeled back in fear and threw its claws towards kasiri’s unshielded face. his claw got caught in kasiri’s mane and so he was unable to runaway from the stranger. kasiri chuckled “what a feisty intruder. have you come to challenge our king?” he stated sarcastically. the cub growled and untangled his claw from kasiri’s mane. “you are in the territory of dunia. come, i will put you in the care of the medic, they will care after your frostbite.”

A lone zebra that had strayed too far from its herd
was unknowingly being watched by four pairs of
eyes. Two pairs to the left and two pairs to the
right. The four hunters moved in unison to close in
on their prey. Finally realizing its situation, the
zebra took off giving the lions a chase.

"Marjani, keep it in your sights!," Zuri called
out. She wasn't the chief hunter but had been
the hunter longest of the four so had assumed
the roles. The other lioness huffed in
acknowledgment of the request as she pressed
on.

The two lions Sefu and Faraji kept pace with
the lionesses. The zebra was quick and making
its way toward Maeneo ya Kufa. They would
have to catch it before it crossed into the
Dead-lands region for this was beyond the pride
territory.

"Pull back!" Zuri shouted to the others. Sefu
and Marjani started to slow but Faraji kept
pushing.

"Faraji! I said to pull back. We cannot hunt
here!" But the lion continued.

He kept close to his target. But not close
enough. The zebra turned around a rocky
crag. Taking the corner too hard, Faraji
stumbled and fell. With a frustrated roar, he
swiped at the rubble. His ears twitched at
the sound of rocks shifting. He turned his head
toward the noise. He was certain it came from
behind that boulder. And from the scent in the
air, it was another lion. The fur between his
shoulders stood on edge. Focusing on the large
boulder he called out with a harsh tone.

"Show yourself!" He readied himself for a
fight. After a minute a small head poked out
from behind the large rock. Faraji snarled
in reaction but then stopped, confused. A
cub? Out here? By itself? The cub pulled back
quickly no doubt afraid of this predatory
brute. He sighed with a hint of annoyance.
"You can come out. I won't hurt you."

It took another moment before the cub
poked their head back out. They seemed
to be observing him. When he kept his
word, the cub emerged completely. A young
lioness.

"Where are your parents?"

The cub shrugged. "We got separated. I...
haven't seen them in a while." At her words,
her head started to drop. The lion had a
moment of solemnity remembering his own
past and how the pride seer had found him
and taken him in. His heart surged with
understanding for the young cub before him.

"I know what that's like..."

Still, he sighed with resignation. He was
still young himself but he knew how hard it
was to survive on your own at that age. She
would be much better with the pride. He
nodded his head in the direction he had come
from.

"Come on. I can take you somewhere safe."

"How do I know I can trust you?" The cub had a
fire that Faraji recognized and grinned.

"Because I was you two years ago. Now come
on."

The wind had a chilling bite that had the blue lion
shivering. The winter season was at it's coldest
this time of year and Kibwe was wishing it was
over as he made his rounds of Ukumbi wa Paradiso.
Nearing the border with the Kuni za Mkondo region
he spotted the leader of the African wild dog pack,
Gadisa, accompanied by his right hand, Moti. It
wasn't unusual to see the dogs about, especially
this time of year when they had to come to the
plains to hunt rather than find prey amongst the
jungle-like forest. The determined advance,
however, was unusual. The knight halted allowing
the dogs to approach him.

"A good day to you, Gadisa and Moti. To what do I
owe the pleasure of your presence?"

"We request an immediate audience with King
Imamu. This matter is," the alpha paused a
moment as if finding the right words. "Quite
urgent."

Kibwe stood up a little straighter. It was unlike
the pack to request such things from the pride.
Gadisa's tone was unmistakably earnest. The lion
gave a curt nod.

"I'll fetch the king at once."

"Thank you. We will await you here."

After giving another quick nod, the blue lion
sprinted across the rough grass toward the
royal den. The harsh wind ran its chilling
fingers through his mane but there wasn't time
to acknowledge the bitter weather. Just
outside the den now, Kibwe panted heavily
trying to catch his breath. The ruling family
had turned their attention to the knight.

"Kibwe? What's the matter?" The queen was
the first to speak up, concern laced in her words.

"Gadisa...and Moti...requesting to speak with
the King, your majesties."

Imamu stood. "Have they said what for?"

Kibwe shook his head lightly. "Just that it was
important. And urgent."

The king shared a look with the queen who simply
nodded slightly. She too stood but spoke softly to
prince Akida, leading him deeper into the den.

"My knight told me you have an important
matter to discuss?" The king spoke with a calm
voice, trying his best to appear the king he
should be.

"Yes. We came across something we thought
you might like to deal with."

What could possibly be something that the lion
king should handle that the wild dogs could not?
Imamu followed closely behind Gadisa and Moti
into their region. Upon reaching a jungle fern bush,
nestled in the foliage, was a small cub with bright
blue eyes. This wasn't what the lion was expecting
but he could see now how this was definitely more
in his field than the dogs. The cub hissed and
batted a paw at the king. With a soft smile, he
looked at Gadisa.

"I think I can handle this from here. Thank you
for finding him."

The dog bowed his head before taking his leave
with his companion. Imamu turned back to the
feisty cub.

"Let's get you back to the pride, huh?"

how were they found?

"Romulus, I'm scared," the young cub whined, shivering as another blast of cold wind hit the two brothers. Romulus,
the bigger of the two brothers, huddled closer to his sibling. "It'll be okay," He said, trying to reassure Remus. But in reality,
he didn't even know if it was going to be okay. Romulus was sure they were going to freeze to death out here. If they didn't
die from the cold, surely they would die from a predator attack or starvation. Remus pressed his face face into his brother's
shoulder, shivering violently.

Crunching in the snow made the two brothers jump. This is it, Romulus thought. This is how I die. Romulus
couldn't tell if his littermate was shaking from the cold or from fear, but he assumed it was a mixture of both. The sound
of footsteps grew closer, and Romulus braced himself for death. But what came upon the two brothers was not hostile.

A young lioness with bright orange eyes gazed upon the two shivering cubs. She stared in awe at the two abandoned cubs.
"What-What happened to you two?" Was all she could muster out. "Oh- never mind that! I have to get you two to safety!"
Romulus backed up, wary of the unfamiliar lioness. "How do we know this isn't a trap? Romulus growled. "What if you're
trying to eat us?" The strange lioness let out a gasp of both shock and offense. "I wouldn't even dare to think of
doing something like that! Now come on, I can't bare the thought of you two freezing to death when I could have helped
you live."

Reluctantly, the two brothers drew closer to the monochrome lioness, and she began to lead them with her tail. The two
brothers were exhausted, and Remus didn't know how much longer he could walk. His paws felt like they were made of
ice! Just before he was ready to give up though, they came upon a small arch woven out of dead trees and many other
plants. Romulus stared in awe for a moment before scampering closer to the lioness, not wanting to be left behind again.
"W-Where are w-w-w-we g-g-going?" Remus asked, his teeth chattering from the cold. The young stranger's eyes glittered
with sadness as she heard the young lion shiver. "Come on, we're going here underground. I promise you it's safe."

The brothers had no choice but to follow. This was their only hopes of survival. They followed the grey and white lioness
into the burrow, and then found themselves looking at more cubs their age with lionesses, curled up together, and snoring.
Some of the mothers had raised their sleepy heads, curious of what was going on. The lioness who had found Remus and
Romulus explained in a hushed voice to the mothers that she had found them for some reason, her words were hard to hear
as she was talking quickly and quietly, and the two brothers were more focused on food and warmth.

Though the mothers seemed to have no issue taking the two orphaned cubs in. After the monochrome lioness had finished
her explanation, one of the mothers lifted her tail and looked over to the two cubs. "Come on now," She said softly, her
voice calm and as smooth as honey. "Curl up and get warm. You two look like you need some rest." The lion cubs weren't
going to say no to that! Eagerly, the two brothers clamored over to the mother, and curled up next to her warm belly and
her other cubs, just as if they were born from her.

And just in an instant, Remus and Romulus were in a deep sleep.

Panacaea smiled as she watched the mother curl her tail around the two abandoned cubs.

"You did a good thing," The mother told the shaman apprentice.

"I try," Panacaea sighed. "I really do."
